New Entry Fee System Saves Time and Money!
by NM Leland Fuerstman

Chess continues to evolve and so has the system by which we pay our entry fees. Therefore, at the 2013 Charlotte City Chess Championship on August 3-4, in order to streamline the process and save work at both ends, no longer will players be required to deal with "PayPal" nor mail a check in advance to the organizer! Now, all that is required is a single E-mail which will place your name on the list of "Players Who Intend To Participate."

The idea behind this system is to allow the Pairing Director to be prepared with your information on the morning of the event in order to save precious time! (Fence sitters have until the day before the event to make their decision to play and save $10!) Now, all one must do is simply report to the Director at the site on Saturday morning
by 9:30am and pay the "Early Entry Fee" of $40! (Note: Players who have not communicated either by E-mail nor phone or "text message" prior to 8-3 will be required to pay $50 cash at the site - ATM machine available!)

The 2013 Charlotte City Chess Championship is an annual event which has been designed to accommodate all USCF rated players in the Charlotte and surrounding areas! (Membership to the Charlotte Chess Club and the NCCA is not required!) The Entry Fee is very reasonable and the payback provides for winners in the lower sections to share an equal amount of the prize fund!

The 7th floor meeting room of the Dowd YMCA on Morehead St. & S. Blvd is a perfect venue for this event. The room is ultra quiet, well lighted and properly air conditioned. The tables and chairs are full size and comfortable. The Official Pairing Director will be popular Asheboro Chess Club Organizer Tom Hales. Tables and chairs will be set up in the foyer area for skittles and post game analysis.  Trophies will be presented to all Section Champions. (The local media has already been apprised of this event and intends to cover it). I hope to see many "new" faces at this well planned event! By the way, scholastic players are welcome to participate!! In order to place your name on the list of players who "Intened to Participate," E-mail:  charlottechessclub@gmail.com or lelandfue@yahoo.com or Text 704-965-8931
