"Chess Bully" Corrected For Being "Mistaken!?" NCCA & QCCA Continue to Ignore Gestures of Peace!? by NM Leland Fuerstman A few months ago, after long time CCC member Tony Cato posted info about the 2013 Charlotte City Championship on the NCCA Forum, "Chess Bully" Gary Newsom posted the following message: "With all due respect Tony, this announcement has no business on this page. This tournament is put on by an organization which to my knowledge (someone please correct me if I may be mistaken) is not recognized by the NCCA due to past indiscretions. Supporting this event is basically thumbing your nose at the progress made in North Carolina Chess over the past 5 years. Let's play chess? Of course. Elsewhere." Gary Newsom Former NCCA President Therefore, I hereby correct him for being "mistaken." What Newsom failed to draw attention to and abide by, was an agreement that he endorsed in 2010 which was designed to prevent either party from making such rude and intentionally destructive statements? The following resolution was penned by honorable NCCA Legal Adviser A. Wilder Wadford, Esq and endorsed by all parties involved, including Past NCCA President Gary Newsom: (See Msg 526a). Over the past few years, though I continue to voice my opinion about important  "chess issues" which need to be revealed, I have attempted to realign myself and the CCC with the NCCA and the QCCA. I believe that most North Carolina chess players are keenly aware of NCCA "Dictator" Rudy Abate's attitude toward NM Leland Fuerstman and the CCC after he rejected my attempt to rejoin the NCCA. He also denied us the ability to post our tournament information on the NCCA Clearinghouse page nor on their "Forum?" Furthermore, he continues to allude to the idea that I am NOT in good standing with the NCCA when there is absolutely no official documentation which substantiates such. According to an interpretation of the USCF rules by past Executive Director Bill Hall, "...it would be necessary for the USCF Ethics Committee to find a member guilty of violating a rule before an Affiliate can censure a member in this fashion." Therefore, as of October 28, 2013, a formal complaint has been submitted to the USCF Ethics Committee against NCCA President Rudolph Abate for violating my rights as a USCF Life Member by attempting to prevent me from participating in USCF rated competition for "personal reasons." Unfortunately, "Dictators" often neglect to follow rules.. As for the QCCA, it is my understanding that newly appointed NCCA VP of Scholastics NM Peter Giannatos has "pretty much taken over the club" from previous "privatizer" Gary Newsom. Over the past year, I have made a honest effort to realign the CCC with the QCCA by posting on the CCC website the results of their Tuesday night play, the names of the winners of their tournaments, info about upcoming QCCA events and even sending Scholastic players to their club! My reward for that was an intense campaign by the "Chess Bully" to make harmful, negative statements and attempt to prevent players from participating in CCC events?! (acts for which I have already filed a formal complaint to the USCF Ethics Committee). More recently, on October 18, 2013, I sent a friendly E-mail to NM Giannatos suggesting that we trade links and even consider some friendly competition between the two clubs!
