Drops $50 Million Dollar Lawsuit Against Mabe By NM Leland Fuerstman I am extremely happy to report that as a result of a personal apology I received from LM Chris Mabe, the $50 million dollar lawsuit has been dropped!? (O.K. I'm just trying to act like Tom Cruise. LOL) Chris admitted that he got a bit carried away with his rhetoric. But, I think I understand his motivation. He only jumps forward to rescue certain vulnerable members after they are bombarded by my occasionally aggressive brand of discourse. As a result of his genuine show of contrition, I promptly accepted his apology. I have invited him to re-join our ranks at the CCC where many of his friends congregate. It would be our honor to have him participate in a Skyland event! Like most of the local gifted players who have achieved the Master Title, Chris cut his teeth at the Charlotte Chess Club. As the years went by, he has developed into a true champion with a current rating of 2353, making him the 2nd highest rated player in North Carolina behind IM Jonathan Schroer (2426). And, considering his overall record against NM Leland Fuerstman (2048) of 16 wins, 3 draws and only 2 losses, he has surely proven it! (Hey, I lost to NM Frankie Newton 57 times!? -- McCartney lost to Newton 62 times!?) And, in more recent years, he amassed an even record against the late, great FM Ron Simpson! There is little doubt that soon, we will have another 2400 player within our ranks! In turn, I wish to apologize to Chris for my unfriendly description of him. He has always been engaging and respectful to me in public as I have always been to him. I was truly moved by his contrite attitude. Sometimes, people make mistakes. Chris promptly corrected his... I have more respect for him, now. That having been said, I wish LM Chris Mabe and his family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and productive new year! It is my sincere hope that other members of our chess community will re-consider their positions and attempt to reconcile our differences in 2014. Respectfully, NM Leland Fuerstman |
