CCC's Top Players
Continue to Shine!
Fierce
Competition is the Order of the Day at the CCC!
1. NM Shawn "P Diddy" Pealer (2179): The
2012 Player of the Year and currently the CCC's
highest rated player, Shawn achieved the Title
of National Master last September!
His 3 CCC Titles insured him a peak rating
of 2210. In 2013,
Shawn went 44 wins, 11 draws and 12
losses for a whopping 73.9% winning
percentage! He often stays late and organizes "rated
speed chess" after the CCC tournament games. In
addition, his first successful effort as Chief Tournament
Director for the Charlotte Winter Open has
encouraged him to direct future events! He may act as Pairing
Director for future Knights Templar/Young
Knights events. (A
separate private room will be used for the Scholastic
players!) Shawn
continues to be an inspiration to every chess player in
our community. We are honored to have him as a member of
the CCC!2. Expert Wil "Mayhem" Mahan (2159): Occasionally driving in from Seagrove, NC, lately, Wil seems to be winning every tournament he enters! In 2013, Wil went 25 wins, 15 draws and 10 losses for a 65% winning percentage. He also claimed 3 CCC Titles. It is easy to predict that soon, we will have a new National Master within our midst! 3. Expert Matthew Wofford (2152): Doing MD internship in Charlotte, Matthew has participated at the CCC whenever he is in town. He recently tied for 1st-2nd Place in the North Carolina Championship. In 2013 he logged 22 wins, 11 draws and 9 losses for a winning percentage of 65.5%. It's only a matter of time before he pockets the NM Title! 4. Expert Daniel Cremisi (2122): Thirteen year old Daniel continues to clamber the chess bean stalk. In recent time he has upset one Expert or Master after another. In 2013 he played 172 games with 88 wins, 41 draws and 43 losses for a winning percentage of 63.1%. Daniel continues to be a rising meteor on the North Carolina chess scene. 5. NM Patrick "Kahn" Sciacca (2105): Though he has slipped a bit from his January 2013 rating of 2200, Pat took 5 CCC Titles and continues to be a formidable opponent for other Top Section players. In 2013 he played 129 games winning 72, drawing 19 and loosing 38 for a winning percentage of 63.2%. Pat will direct his first Saturday 3 rounder, 1st East Charlotte Octads on January 11. 6. Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2094): Achieving a peak rating of 2139, Patrick continues to be a thorn in the side of many a strong player. In 2013, Patrick played 148 games with 67 wins, 42 draws and 39 losses for a winning percentage of 59.5%. Patrick serves as the CCC Statistical Analist and often assists in providing pairings, interpreting rules and posting an occasional puzzle! His 2 CCC Titles are an indicator that he's moving in the right direction. 7. NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2038): Taking 3 CCC Titles, NM LF continues to produce an occasional gem against a field of players half his age! In 2013, Leland played 88 games with 32 wins, 23 draws and 33 losses and a winning percentage of 49.4%. Most of his time now is dedicated to the CCC website, directing the Charlotte Chess Club and organizing and directing the Knights Templar events the next of which will be February 1. See you there! 8. Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2034): Michael continues to be one of the sharks in the pool! And, just when you least expect it, you may be "clobbered" by Kliber! In 2013 he played 53 games with 20 wins, 12 draws and 21 losses for a 49.1% winning percentage. We are happy to have him in the mix. Special thanks to each of the above Masters and Experts who participated in CCC competition in 2013. And "thank you" to all of the other Masters, Experts and class players who occasionally participated. Now in 2014, come and join the "best chess club" in North Carolina every Wednesday evening at the Skyland Family Restaurant to dine, socialize and play one rated game at 7:45pm. Long live the CCC!
