Some People in ...North Carolina Chess...

Some people in the North Carolina chess community are pretty good about responding to E-mails. Others, not so good. Here is a recent E-mail that was sent to NCCA President Kevin Hyde which elicited no response?...

Mr. Hyde:
As you may be aware, or maybe you're not, since you have said little to anyone, for whatever reasons, many members of the NC chess community are curious about your status with the NCCA. Recently, I have received E-mails quoting "insiders" who have indicated that "you resigned and shifted all of your duties to Jones."
Please be kind enough to verify that one way or another.
In case you still claim to be President, one would only assume that you have read the NCCA Articles of Incorporation, whereupon you would understand that the "officers" of the NCCA are responsible for conducting (not farming out) the Invitational. You have provided no explanation why that has been neglected this year. Jones' excuse that you don't have enough money is absurd?
Your prompt response will be appreciated... by every active chess player in North Carolina.
But, if you really give a damn, you might agree to fund the Invitational to the degree which I suggested ($1,000 First, $200 appearance fee. Total: $2,000. The organization has the money. I am sure that Hales, or Giannatos or Ken Baxter or even NM Leland Fuerstman will make arrangements to use a private home or a library for FREE. The NCCA Invitational is a sacred event which must be preserved for posterity as it has been for all these years! And, you sir, of all people, certainly have no right to neglect nor abolish it.
NM Leland Fuerstman
Past President NCCA
