The Charlotte Chess Club is the premier "adult" chess club in the southeast.  The CCC is open to players of every race, color, creed, national origin, gender, religion, political affiliation or galaxy!  As a CCC member, you are expected to treat your fellow members equally, with dignity and respect regardless of skill level or experience. In accordance with the standards of good sportsmanship, all members are asked to shake hands before and after each game! If during play, a possible rules violation occurs, you must first, stop your clock and report the situation to the Tournament Director. (A loud verbal confrontation over the rules is a distraction to everyone) The TD will make the necessary ruling.  If a noise distraction occurs, you may stop your clock, turn to the "minor noise violators" and silently place your finger over your lips! After the "talkers" acknowledge your complaint, you resume your game. All postmortem analysis must be moved to an area away from games which are still in progress. Anyone who violates these rules will receive 10 lashes with a wet noodle... Have fun!!  NMLF

Kudos to 14 year old NM Emmanuel Carter (2183) for finishing clear 1st Place in the U2200 Section of LotS with 4.5-.5 and winning $600!(?) for a 60% payback?? (The event guaranteed $14,000 based on 225 entries. According to the math, 215 entries divided by 225 equals 95%! Of course, there were deductions for lower EF's, but how would that reduce the payback to 60%? Plus, with half the number of players, the top section payed back almost twice as much as the U2200 Section? Also, many complaints about only 1 TD for the entire tournament?)
******************************************
Honorable mention to Debs Pedigo (1335) who finished =2nd-3rd for the U1300 prize in the U1700 Section of LotS with 2.5-2.5 and won $75?? (Yet, 2nd prize offered was $250?)
*******************************************
Congratulations to 15 year old NM Daniel Cremisi (2206) who finished clear 1st Place in Big Cookie I with 3-0. =2nd-3rd were NM Pat Sciacca (2132) and NM Leland Fuerstman (2034) 2.5-.5. (See Game 1440) Top U1600 1st Joe Rafferty (1563) 2-1.

Cremisi Clear 1st Place in Big Cookie I
Charlotte, NC 1-24-15: A moderate impromptu turnout of 13 of the most loyal members of the CCC royal guard congregated at this 5 star restaurant more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to participate in Big Cookie I. In the Carlsen Section, just recovering from dental surgery, 15 year NM Daniel Cremisi (2206) dispatched of Joe Rafferty (1563) in Rd:1, George "Cashman" Cashell (1755) in Rd:2 and nemesis Team Columbia Expert Keith "Chucky" Eubanks (2064) in the final round to finish clear 1st Place with 3-0 and pocket $100. Equal 2nd-3rd were NM Pat "Wolverine" Sciacca (2132) and NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2034) each with 2.5-.5 (See Game 1440) winning $25. Top U1600 was Joe Rafferty (1563) with 2-1 winning $20. There were 11 paid entries for a payback of 77%. An enjoyable time was had by all. For all results see "Crosstable." Fuerstman directed.

E. Carter Leads Exp/Master; Cashell  "A"; K. Carter "B"; Rafferty "C"; Butler, Rainford D/E Section of McAlister's VII

Charlotte, NC 1-21-15: Another good turnout of 25 of the most well fed and happy chess players in the Charlotte area  gathered at this mental jousting arena more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to participate in Rd:4 of McAlister's VII. In the Exp/Master Section, now leading with 4-0, 14 year old NM Emmanuel Carter (2170) met with stiff resistance in the person of "Wild" Bill Connell (1943) who watched a relatively equal position slip away in the time trouble (See Game 1438)  and lost. Meanwhile, the pride of Mental Hill, ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2026) played his patented London System venturing into a complicated middle game versus Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1810) who almost turned the tables (See Game 1437) before some precise end game measures were taken. In the "A" Section, George "Cashman" Cashell (1838) outplayed Dave "Dawuud" Richards (1669) to lead with 2.5-1.5. In addition, Lorenzo Carter (1905) built up a strong position and finally notched the point against superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1801). In the "B" Section, Kydriana Carter (1566) became involved in a wild encounter with Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1573) (See Game 1439) who may have resigned a bit early, to lead with 4-0. In the "C" Section, Joe Rafferty (1513) handled Debs Pedigo (1338) to led with 1.5-.5. In addition, "Little" Joe Little (1538) beat down Eric "Truth" Hartung (1573) while Carl "Marx" McKern (1513) got by Sammy "the Bull" Fuerstman (1445). In the D/E Section, "Lord" Byron Butler (1384) outlasted Francois Gros (1114) while Claude "Rainman" Rainford (1156) took care of Michael Lyons (516) each with 3 points. In addition, Rich "Alert" Trela (1076) defeated Bill Bush (998). In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." The Charlotte Chess Club will meet on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at McAlister's Deli, 4805 Park Rd. Round begins at 7:30 sharp! So, get there early and enjoy a wonderful meal or dine while you play! ----- Long live the CCC! -----
