The Charlotte Chess Club is the premier "adult" chess club in the southeast.  The CCC is open to players of every race, color, creed, national origin, gender, religion, political affiliation or galaxy! (Considering that we are in such close proximity, all members are required to arrive bathed, in clean clothing and making use of deodorant and mouthwash. Also, if a member is sick with a cold or symptoms of  flu, he should think twice before spreading unwanted germs). As a CCC member, you are expected to treat your fellow members equally, with dignity and respect, regardless of skill level or experience. In accordance with the standards of good sportsmanship, all members are asked to shake hands (or bump fists) before and after each game! If during play, a possible rules violation occurs, you must first stop your clock and report the situation to the Tournament Director. (A loud verbal confrontation over the rules is a distraction to everyone) The TD will make the necessary ruling.  If a noise distraction occurs, you may stop your clock, turn to the "minor noise violators" and silently place your finger over your lips! After the "talkers" acknowledge your complaint, you resume your game. All postmortem analysis must be moved to an area away from games which are still in progress. Anyone who violates these rules will receive 10 lashes with a wet noodle...  Have fun!!  NMLF

Sciacca, Pealer, Cremisi Share Title of 2017 CCC Player(s) of the Year!
Charlotte, N.C. 1-3-2018: This year, your commandant was faced with a dilemma. Because the criteria to determine "chess success" is not finite, it was difficult to decide upon a clear winner for the 2017 POTY Title. Therefore, in it's wisdom, the CCC council declared a three way tie! Each one of these champions has proven his chess skills in an admirable fashion and all CCC members are proud of their success. Congratulations to 54 year old NM Patrick "Kann" Sciacca (2130) who began the year with a rating of 2114 and gained 16 points. However, he did finish 1st Place on the CCC Titles won in 2017 list with 7. Kudos to 42 year old NM Shawn "Spuds" Pealer (2204) who won 6 Titles and was able to maintain his Master rating for the year. Shawn is also heavily involved in teaching (Charlotte Chess Network) and organizing scholastic events. Finally, 17 year old (soon to be) Senior Master Daniel Cremisi (2379) began the year with a rating of 2322 and gained 57 hard earned points. Though he was not as active in 2017, he did win 4 CCC Titles. He also recently won the Title of 2017 National High School Champion (12th grade). - All 3 champions will have their CCC membership extended for 1 year and be allowed to participate in Wednesday evening rated competition for FREE! The Most Improved Player of the Year Title goes to 11 year old Advaith Karthik (1681) who began the year with a rating of 1000 and gained 681 points!! Six other members gained at least 100 points! Thank you all for participating at the Charlotte Chess Club. Happy New Year! NMLF

Sciacca still leads with 1-0. Shirzad leads the "B" Section with 1-0. In the "C" Section, Carl "Marx" McKern (1500) had his hands full but ended up winning on time (See Game 1948) versus Scott "the Door" LaPorte (1519) to lead with 2-0. Meanwhile, Hank "the Tank" Vergie (1490) notched the point against "Lord" Byron Butler (1400) (See Game 1947) while Douglas Taublib (1545) (See Game 1949) outplayed Debs Pedigo (1374).
