The Charlotte Chess Club, an Affiliate of the USCF conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The time control is 30/1, G30. Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC sponsors a monthly 3 rd. Swiss at Bertucci's and other occasional tournaments. The Charlotte Chess Club has established itself as the premier Chess Club of the Southeast. With a current count of 75 members, we meet each Wednesday evening at 6:30 P.M. (or as early as 5:30 for some) at Wendy's Restaurant, 446 S. Independence Blvd., Charlotte, NC, USA (Directions) The
venue guarantees plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking and friendly management?! Members are welcome to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated events.

- Each player will compete in the Section for which he qualifies based on the October Rating Supplement - NC players will be paired against SC players (slight imbalance may require some intrapairing) - At least 12 players per State per Section required to win NC vs SC Title. The "Team" prizes are separate from the Section Prizes. The sum of the final scores of each Team will determine the winner(s).

 Newton Leads Top; Brosi "B";  Singleton "C"; Gatlin Lower Section of Wendy's LXXXI Note: Next Wednesday the round begins at 7:30pm sharp! Be there, or be square...
Charlotte, NC 11-1-06:  A slightly stronger turnout of 23 of the Metrolina area's most persistent competitors congregated at this stadium where mental jousters compete more commonly known as Wendy's in order to particiapte in Rd:4 of Wendy's LXXXI. In the Top Section, the CCC's #1 player, the pride of Crouse, NC, 2005 CCC Player of the Year NM Frankie "Neutrino" Newton's (2294) second requested on his behalf and was granted a 1/2 point Bye but still leads with 3.5-.5. Meanwhile, in a see-saw battle, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2016) rejected the idea of Draw and ultimately lost to Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2016), Laura "Karate Kid" Lee (1811) clobbered 2006 NC Class "A" Champion Gary "Sandbagger" Branton (1930) and Michael "Jordan" Kliber (1910) split the point with 12 year old phenom Samuel "Xman" Xin (1813). In the "B" Section, ...into the phonebooth, quick change of clothes and presto, the big "S" as Clarke "Kent Brosi (1809) dominated Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1688) to lead with 3.5-.5. In addition, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1747) beat down "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1766) and Jerome "Cookie Monster" DeBell (1688) beat up Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1645). In the "C" Section, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1560) continues to dominate with a win over Cesar "Read me my rights" Miranda (1309) to lead with 3-0. In the Lower Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1342) unloaded on Copeland "Copie" Blackwell (1135) to lead with 3-1. Other Lower Section winners were: Michael "Jordan" Baker, Fran "Arnie" Palmer and Bobby "Tommy" Lee. All results may be observed on the current "Crosstable". Aliyev Perfect in Top; Huang, Jones Take Lower Section of Bertucci's XV
Charlotte NC 9-16-06:
A grand total of 15 chessplayers from 3 states converged upon Bertucci's Italian Restaurant in order to participate in Bertucci's XV. In the Top Section, NM  Timur Alyiev (2293) of Columbia, SC reeled off consecutive wins versus Jacob Parrish (1871), NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2002) and in the final round Expert Shawn "Arlo" Pealer (2118) to capure clear 1st Place with a perfect 3-0 and collect $100. Equal 2nd-5th were Pealer, Partrick "Fabio" McCartney (1987), Thomas Paradis (1855) and 12 year old phenom Samuel "Xman" Xin (1837) who upset Jacob Parrish (1871) and Expert Keith Eubanks (2085) each with 2-1 winning $13. In the Lower Section, Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1757) and Ellis Jones (1800) shared =1st-2nd Place with 2.5-.5 each winning $35. In order to observe all results see (Crosstable).
