Chess Tweet!!
Chess Tweet!! Leland: I see that NM Chris Mabe has been scratched from the
list?! Is
the NCCA still trying to block you
from playing? With only 4
early entries in the Top
Section, you'd probably have
a pretty good chance of winning
something!? I'm not playing
because they don't have a direct
flight from Las Vegas to
Henderson, NC!? LOL My question
is, since the response has been so
bad, any chance they might
postpone the tournament and refund
everyone's EF instead of losing a
bunch of money? That would make
more sense. I'm just asking, Jason

Lower Section of Skyland 50
* Happy Thanksgiving!! Charlotte, NC 11-27-13:A light pre-Thanksgiving turnout of 15 of the most
competent calculators in the city converged
upon this converted turkey farmmore commonly know as
the Skyland Family
Restaurant in order to
participate in Rd:1
of Skyland 50.
(CCC members got very
comfortable sitting in full size tables and
chairs while being catered to by our own
personal waitress, Cindy.
Most enjoyed a generously portioned home style meal
for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!) drank
hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on
our demo board
and monitored the giant flat screen TV with
the sound turned off; Skyland stays open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon
(1900) defended to the hilt against a weird "d4"
game attempted by the Pride of Mint
Hill, ex-member of the NCCA Hall
of Fame, NM Leland
"Ennui" Fuerstman (2048) who seemed to be winning (See Game 1241) just
before the wheels fell off, to lead with 1-0. Meanwhile,
Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber
(2031) was taken to task by the good Reverend Bernard
"King" Baker (1822) who handily Drew.
In addition, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1723)
outplayed Mark Sturman (1840) to lead the "B"
Section with 1-0.
In the "C" Section, Ervon
"Wooden" Nichols (1434) missed the early
advance of his "e" Pawn to win material
only to wait to advance it later and force checkmate
versus "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1440) to lead
with 1-0.
Meanwhile, Mike "Fox" Trott (1508) was promptly
upset by Troy "Mother" Fletcher
(1100)! In the Lower Section, Eric
"Truth" Hartung (1327) defeated Debs
Pedigo (1124) to share the lead with Fletcher
at 1-0. In
order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable."
The facility was
great and everybody was happy!
We hope more players will join us next
Wednesday to dine, socialize and play
one rated game of chess at 7:45pm sharp!
Everyone is welcome. Long live the CCC!
