Here is the only truth:  "We are the pawns of the mysterious game of chess played by God,  who moves us,  stops us,  shifts us ahead,  and soon picks us up one after the other and gathers us in the same box of  Nothing."

Mabe, Eubanks Lead Top; Wood "B"; Hales "C"; Gatlin Lower Section of Seafarer I
Charlotte, NC 7-23-08:  A slightly smaller group of 18 happy  mariners pulled into this harbor where mental jousting is contested more commonly known as the Seafarer in order to participate in Rd:2 of Seafarer I. (Many of those who participated enjoyed a delicious meal with friends and family prior to and during tournament play. Others drank soft drinks, beer and coffee. Our private room is spacious, well lighted and very quiet! Not only that, we have our very own waitress named Wendy!) In the Top Section, NM Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2240) and Expert Keith "Chuckie" Eubanks (2075) each took 1/2 point Byes and lead with 1.5-.5. Meanwhile, Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2061) played the pawn sac line of the Sokolsky and ultimately prevailed against NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) (See Game 0744), Spartenburg icon David K. Williams (1904) outplayed Joshua "Moo" Mu (1910) and Samuel "Xman" Xin (1970) demonstrated his superiority over 2008 North Carolina Scholastic Champion Jonathon McNeill (1850). In the "B" Section, Team Asheboro's Jordan "Tiger" Wood (1702) outplayed NCCA President Randy "Wheels" Wheeless (1667) to led with 1-0. In the "C" Section, Team Asheboro's Tom "Terrific" Hales (1580) went to the wire with Nathaniel "E's" Eerenberg (1486) before the latter tipped his King to lead with 1.5-.5. In the Lower Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1284) upset Andrew "Lefty" Turner (1467) to lead with 2-0 (See Game 0743). Other Lower Section winners were: Lee "Roger" Moore, "Smokin" Corey Frazier and Dr. Ron "Feet" Futerman. See "Current Crosstable"  for complete results. (The facility was great! Everybody was happy! We hope more players join in the fun next week! - LF)
