053 - Hi Leland,
<>You're right, Billy's is a nice
place and the service is good.>
<>I am a little concerned about the size of the playing area. It
seems a little small. And at least two of the tables have the
bright morning sunlight shining directly on them.>
<>More importantly, I think the TD should make a mental
note about what time the round begins - add 3 hours to that time and
announce to everyone that they must start the clocks for round 2
by such and such a time. I think we have to steer a middle ground
between bringing food up to the dining room and possibly distracting
people with the smell of food on one hand, and respectfully waiting a
full hour for everyone to finish dining. Personally, I
started round 2 in a very bad mood after waiting around too damned
long. I believe it's preferable if some people bring food
upstairs.>

************************************************************************* Ken the "Great": Your complaints have not fallen on deaf ears and they are certainly valid. Dude, what you may not be aware of is that management went the extra mile just to have the room ready for us! Less than a week ago that room was completely crammed full of stuff and totally unfinished. They spend money and manhours to get it ready for our use. The 2nd round did start a bit late. However, not exactly sure of what the timeframe would be, almost all of our players were grouped in the main dining room for lunch. A rare positive social circumstance which allowed players to interact and communicate. We actually had fun! In my humble opinion, the food there is excellent (not too pricey). To make a good impression, most of our party left healthy tips for the waitresses! Believe me, they observed what went on, and seemed to be pleased with our group. Though I'm a bit disappointed in the turnout, I truly believe that we will have twice as many next time. And, I will make an attempt to see that Rd:1 of Billy's II, Mar 19, starts on time as well as Rd:2 and Rd:3. You may be correct about allowing food to be served in the playing hall. Maybe we will try that next time! Thanks for your participation and your comments. Respectfully, LF |
