- CCC Rate Increases Due to the cost of living and other website and computer related expenses, as of 6-28-06 the Charlotte Chess Club will increase the fee to play one rated game to $4. In addition, the annual fee will be increased to $25. (current members receive $5 discount). Also, re-visiting non-members must pay $2. The CCC has not increased the fee in almost 10 years. Few realize the amount of time and work associated with maintaining a completely updated website. True, our numbers have slipped a bit in the recent past, but chessplayers come and go. (That trend can also be felt by the other rogue organizations which have recently surfaced and promptly failed). Next week we move into our new facility directly beside the old location! The CCC, which welcomes all people from all walks of life and personal circumstance has always been consistent in following the rules and adhering to the principles of fairness and good sportsmanship. We conduct a monthly Saturday event at Bertucci's and the website is always immediately updated after each round or event has taken place. Sadly, our "Message Board" is not quite as active as it once was. (The change requiring a direct E-mail to me at: lelandfue@yahoo.com came about after our "user friendly" system spawned slander and junk mail. Since then, the unrest and discontent at the CCC has ceased). Regardless, there are already too many places to blog and it saves me work! However, we do still welcome everyone's opinions and contributions. In general, we have a pretty happy crowd of players who continue to enjoy the fierce competition which the CCC always offers. I'm looking forward to seeing all 85 of our members at our new facility soon! See ya' Wednesday night. Thanks for supporting the CCC. Best regards to all, NM Leland Fuerstman |
