To: North Carolina Chess Fans From: Asheboro Chess Club The Asheboro Open XVI is this Saturday, September 9th, 2006. Last month we were honored to host thirty-three of NC's most talented players. Our remodeled playing area offers new flooring, new paint, and BETTER lighting! The North Carolina Open is next month folks...now is the time to polish your game. Practice makes perfect! September is a busy month for a lot of you with the start of a new school year. The Asheboro Open requires a minimal time investment, with maximum prize pay outs. Our goal is to provide YOU a monthly Swiss tournament with many of the advantages of larger tournaments. We call this the BIG TOURNAMENT experience. Who wants to get paired with the same players month after month? That is why we introduced Smart Sections. This flexible approach means you don't get stuck playing the same people each month. It's what makes The Asheboro Open your choice for variety, convenience, and great chess. We believe that if a tournament is convenient , affordable , and exciting , players will support it. That being said, we know that you are the key to our success. Due to your support, we are well on our way to reaching our goal of 30 players per tournament. Is this an unrealistic goal? Well, as Donald Trump says, "If you're going to dream, you might as well dream BIG." There are more than enough serious players out there to make this a reality. Thanks for helping us make The Asheboro Open a success. Let's see how far we can take this...together. Don't forget to visit our website. I have corrected some errors that were brought to my attention recently (thanks for your patience!) LTC Ambrose Jacobs and Larry Williams are two of our most valued supporters, and the intermingling of their names was unfortunate and unintentional. As always, you will find results and photos from last month's tournament. We welcome your feedback on the web site. Please let me know if you spot any errors so that I can correct them. www.asheborochess.com Help us make September a month to remember. Join us this Saturday, September 9th, 2006.
