Dear Charlotte Chess Club Members: I was reading about your organization online and was fascinated with the work you are doing with the Charlotte Chess Club to promote chess in Charlotte! I am the Campus Director of a non-profit organization called Citizen Schools. We provide out of school learning opportunities for middle school students through hands-on apprenticeships taught by community members and professionals who are passionate about their work. We are approaching our second year of providing high quality after school programs in Charlotte and I am very interested in having a chess apprenticeship on campus. Citizen Schools takes places Monday through Thursday from 3pm until 6pm at Eastway. However our apprenticeships are only once per week for 90 minutes (4:15 - 5:45pm) on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. They are taught by at least one expert in the field and last for 12 weeks and end if a final project/presentation conducted before families, friends and community members. If this sounds like an opportunity that you or your colleagues would be interested in, I would like to schedule a time to speak with you further. For more information about Citizen Schools please feel free to log onto the website (listed below). Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you shortly, Candice Williams Campus Director Citizen Schools at Eastway Middle School 1501 Norland Dr. Charlotte, NC 28205 980-343-1382 (office) 704-780-5840 (cell) candice.williams@cms.k12.nc.us www.citizenschools.org |
