Seafarer Remains Home of the CCC! Contrary to popular rumor, the Seafarer (just look for the 3-D whale) will continue to be the home of the Charlotte Chess Club. However, in order to placate the management, a few changes have been made. First, the "new" time control for all tournament games is G60! We will now be out of the building by 10pm! This will allow more young players and early risers to participate. Second, in every business situation there is a trade off. The Seafarer Restaurant has a variety of great food at reasonable prices. More of our members need to purchase their meals and beverages there. And, please be advised that is forbidden (and very bad manners) to bring food or drink in from other sources. Finally, Owner/Manager Chris Copsis has provided us with a very quiet "private room" that could accommodate 100 players, 8 foot x 30" tables with "new" tablecloths, comfortable full size padded chairs, excellent lighting, cold air-conditioning, direct parking, excellent food of all types at great prices, soft drinks, beer & wine, coffee, his & hers bathrooms, our own waitress, a full size demonstration board and plenty of room to move around and socialize! In return, he asks that "more members enjoy the food and drink," and that "folks simply say 'hello' when they enter and 'good-bye' when they leave!!?" (Hey guys, be friendly to Chris; he loves everybody!) So, try to arrive early, socialize (you know, like, actually talk to somebody!) and enjoy your dinner with other members. It will do you good! I'll see you at the Seafarer next Wednesday for G60! - LF |
