Misleading Rhetoric and Personal Attacks; More
Debris Swept Under the QCCA Rug!? 5-17-10: (The following is the response to an unfriendly message posted on the QCCA Message Board) by LTD Charles Carerros). Charlie: I didn't know that you were such an agelast! My message was meant to be friendly and humorous! Occasional incidents occur at chess clubs; I assumed you would simply address the issue and be done with it. But, that does not seem to be the case... To exactly what "misinformation and lies" are you referring? Are you insinuating that the incident never took place? Because, in all of your misleading rhetoric and personal attacks of me you never even mention one word about it?! Nor do you indicate any consequences for the actions of the two perpetrators. The following article was published on the CCC website: Carerros "Walks Away" From Violent Disturbance at QCCA?! Charlotte, NC 5-4-10: Per the recollection of a reliable source, as the result of a prolonged and loud disturbance at last Tuesday evening's meeting, Tournament Director Charles Carerros has "walked away"?! According to an eye witness, NCCA Vice President Jessica Martin and controversial malcontent Patrick McCartney were involved in a loud altercation just outside the door which required the Tournament Director's intervention on at least 3 occasions before the illustrious Vice President jumped up on top of a bench yelling, "Come on, you want a piece of me!!?" (Wow!? If one wishes to find out "where all of the ladies are at (sic)," you can find them at the Queen City Chess Club!?) It is unclear whether Carerros has simply given up his tournament director's responsibilities or actually resigned his QCCA membership?! (Update: According to a personal E-mail, Charles Carerros has NOT quit the QCCA.) But, in either case, he is welcome to join us at the Charlotte Chess Club on Wednesday evenings for a great meal, fun, one rated game of chess and no arguments! Furthermore, Charlie should be lauded for the 2 years of tireless "volunteer" work he has done for the Charlotte chess community. It remains to be seen whether the two pugilists will be sanctioned for their violent and disruptive behavior. (Regardless of what they were arguing about, I'd put my money on Jessica in a fist fight!! LOL) Please realize that people are not interested in your self-centered concerns about what YOU said or did more so than what occurred during the actual ugly incident between the two antagonists. Why haven't you elaborated upon that? Precisely what was stated in my article which was not true? Is it not correct that later in the evening when there were still a few tournament games in progress, as TD, you were required to address a loud argument between NCCA VP Jessica Martin and Patrick McCartney at least 3 times? And when the argument finally escalated to the point where VP Martin jumped up on top of a bench and made verbal threats, you became "visibly exasperated" and did say something to the effect of "I quit, or I resign or I'm done with this" and then "walked away from the violent disturbance!" Yes or no? (And, for the sake of splitting hairs, unless you were using a "Segway," maybe you simply walked away to your car in order to leave, but you did, in fact, "walk away...") That is what was reported by one of your own members... and if that report is not correct, then exactly what did you say? Sir, your accusation that I provided "mis-information" is simply not true. But, considering the amount of time which elapsed between the incident and your response, as usual you are providing "NO" information!? In effect, you are purposely supressing a negative incident about which your members have a right to know. According to an eye "and ear" witness, on the evening of May 4, 2010, a very violent disturbance took place at the QCCA. If such an incident had occurred at the CCC, the matter would have immediately been reported to all of the members. Then a prompt determination would have been made as whether to censure, or not. Finally, a report would be submitted designed to prevent such an incident from ever occurring again. -- But, according to the standards by which your organization seems to operate, you have chosen to 'sweep the matter under the rug' by not reporting nor elaborating on the incident at all? And, even as you authored your belated hate mail, you made absolutely no mention of the incident, itself. Nor is there any evidence that the matter is being investigated by the NCCA in order to explain the behavior of one of their own officers? Peter Giannatos is an occasional visitor (spy) to the Charlotte Chess Club. He is always welcome to report any incident or statement which he witnesses at the CCC without my permission. (Newspapers are not required to obtain the permission of the subjects about whom they report; just so their information is true. And, in this case, I believe that what was reported to me is true). Now, stop trying to divert everyone's attention from the incident by personally bashing me for reporting it and accept the responsibility of "properly" addressing it. Some players have recently expressed a desire to return to CCC competition, so please stop posting negative messages which continue to drive a wedge between the QCCA and the CCC. As far as I am concerned, everyone should play at both clubs! So, if you like great food at a great price, I'll see you at the Charlotte Chess Club on Wednesday evenings. Have a nice day, NM Leland Fuerstman |
