Skyland XXXI Proves to be Banner Tournament for FSC Disciples
by Bill Wright

As a graduate and disciple of the Fuerstman School of Chess, for the first time on February 29, 2012, I defeated the FSC Schoolmaster in the final round of Skyland XXXI to finish 4-1 with a performance rating of 2071 and gained 80 rating points (1768)! -- Not to be out done, co-"B" Player Dr. Ron “Dutch” Breukelaar (1790) (also an FSC Graduate) finished the tournament with a score of 4-0, a performance rating of 2272 and gained 110 rating points!! Incidentally, Breukelaar defeated me in Rd:1 and had already upset the venerable Schoolmaster in a previous Skyland tourney. However, I still lead our head-to-head competition with 5 wins to Dr. Breukelaar’s 4. The seesaw battle continues and the question remains; which FSC student will be the next to join their master in the Top Section of the ongoing CCC Skyland tournament series? (Probably both of you; -- in the next event! LF) Can anyone say rematch! By the way, NM Leland Fuerstman is a darn good teacher!! I'm having more fun at the Charlotte Chess Club each week!

Warm regards,
Bill "Mindweeder" Wright
