Players
Available for Match Play!
Interested in participating in "Match Play?!" "Match play" is a perfectly legitimate way of testing yourself in tournament competition against your peers! Furthermore, it's a lot of fun! You simply choose an opponent from our "list" who has a similar rating (no more than 400 point difference, no Unrateds). Then, E-mail him with a proposal: date(s) and times that your match will take place, a time control (normal or fast rated) and a venue. I recommend that you play an equal number of games and travel to each others residence. Or, one player may have a more desirable venue, or you could play at a neutral location; like the library or a bookstore. You can play for prize money or just rating points. (A higher rated Expert or Master may require a fee, win or lose!? That's up to the two of you to agree upon...) I will submit the results to the USCF which charges a small fee for rating matches. In case of a dispute or question of rules, call 704-965-8931. Through the years, I have enjoyed playing matches with many players who ultimately became my good friends. There is no better way to get to know your fellow chess players than by visiting them in their homes! If you are interested in participating in match play, simply let me know and I will post your name on the "Available for Match Play" list! In addition, while thumbing through our "Roster", you might spot a member with a similar rating who lives in your area and suggest a match with him! Of course, you have the right to "sidestep" anyone you wish, but the camaraderie and enjoyment derived from "local match play" is well worth the time and effort spent doing it. And, you just might win a few rating points! Or, lose a few...!? LF |
