    Greetings from Charlotte N.C, USA, Earth to everyone out there in cyberia, and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. We have finally entered the ultra modern age of instant communication. In this column, which is updated every Thursday, we will strive to report a weekly synopsis of the previous meeting to include current standings, annotated games, and other interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening pleasure. Our goal is to eventually provide our members with a "realtime" site which will instantly produce current information about chess with the click of a mouse! We welcome your comments and contributions

Justin Daniel Wins Top; 4 Way Tie in Middle; Ashamalla, Jivan Lower Section of Wendy's XXIX
Charlotte, NC 10-31-01: Twenty-four "trick or treaters" avoided a Halloween candy overdose and participated in Rd:5 of Wendy's XXIX. In the Top Section, NC High School Champion, 17 year old phenom, Expert and soon to be Master Justin "Dog" Daniel (2192) split the point with 54 year old phenom, NM Leland "El-Presidente" Fuerstman (2000) giving him a final score of 3.5-1.5, good enough for clear 1st Place. Equal 2nd-3rd with 2.5-2.5 were Fuerstman and NM Garrick "Outlaw" Wells (2094) who outflanked Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1921). Also, in the Top Section Jon "Cigars" Pietras (1789) drew with Ralph Lombard (1881). In the Middle Section, Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1655) handled "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1672), "CEO" Mike Isner (1491) tripped David T. Richards (1675), Carl "Codes" McKern (1517) got by Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1473) and Brandon "EsqJr" Brown (1492) was a no-show. Each tied for 1st-4th Place with 3-2. In addition, Danesh Dadgar (1444) defeated Deneil Brazell (1298). Equal 1st-2nd in the Lower Section were Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla (1262) and Ankit Jivan (1150) who each scored 4-1. Other Lower Section winners were: Joe Shirlen and G. Scott Edmiston. All results may be viewed in the "Current Crosstable." Tapia Captures 3rd Consecutive Title; Brazell Controls Lower Section of Smokehouse XX
Charlotte, NC 10-20-01: Thirteen weekend warriors participated in Smokehouse XX. In the Top Section, 15 year old phenom Daniel "Johnny Tapia (1956)  defeated Jerome "Bouncer" DeBell (1675), Gil Holmes (1612) and David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1900) respectively turning in a perfect 3-0 score and taking  home $80. Equal 2nd-5th were NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2011), NM Leland "El-Presidente" Fuerstman (2000), David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1900) and Robert C. Moore (1700) each scoring 1.5-1.5 and winning $10. The five man Lower Section was again captured by Daneil Brazell (1298) who scored 2.5-.5 and won $40.Equal 2nd-3rd were Jim "Sticks" Ulaky (1208) and Frank "Chessman" Johnson (1444) each with 2-1 and winning $10.
