Newton Surfaces With Results Still Unclear; DeBell & Tapia Undecided in Middle; Ashamalla, Clontz Lead Lower Section of Wendy's XX
Charlotte, NC - 11-29-00: Thirty-two chess pundits gathered at our sacred temple of thinkers more commonly known as Wendy's on Wednesday evening in order to participate in Rd:3 of Wendy's XX. In the Top Section, the encounter between NM Leland Fuerstman (2027) and CCC Favorite Son 16 year old Expert Justin Daniel (2106) continues after an adjournment whereby the former player remains the exchange up for 2 pawns?! (See Game 0155)  Meanwhile, sneaking up on the leaders is NM Frankie "Neutron Bomb" Newton (2199) whom after missing Rd:1 has amassed 2 points with wins over NM Garik "Wells (2106) and Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1911). Also, in the Top Section, Jon "Infinitys End & Cigars Etc" Pietras (1824) outlasted David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1871) while NM Garik "Outlaw" Wells (2106) drew with NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000). In the Middle Section, after winning his Rd:2 adjournment versus Greg "the Mad Ukrainian" Bunich (1664), Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (1501) has adjourned with co-leader Jerome DeBell (1456). In addition, D. Paul Jenkins (1582) went on a successful hunting trip by bagging David "the Bear" Griffin (1664) while with the Black pieces, Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1644) and Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1489) defeated David Mangis (1454) and Carl McKern (1500) respectively. In the Lower Section, Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla (1274) and Adam Clontz (1177) lead with 2.5-.5.  Other Lower Section winners were:  Daryl "Flash" Gordon, Ankit Jivan, Brandon Brown, Joe Ulaky, Steve Rigdon and Frank Mu.
