Free
Food Again Next Week !!
Charlotte,
NC 9-1-04: A healthy turnout of 28
of the Charlotte area's most gifted and talented converged upon this famous
think-tank of chessplayers more commonly known
as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:1 of Wendy's LIX.
In the Top Section, the CCC's #2 player,
current NC Invitational Champion NM Frankie "Neutron" Newton
(2264) was taken to task by the good Dr. Gerard "the Butcher" Sztyber (1746)

Sharing that lead are Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2104) who outplayed
the good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1820), Todd
"ChessNinja" Trower (2036) who clobbered Michael "Jordan" Kliber
(1900) and NM Leland "Premier Hombre" Fuerstman (2000) who
squeezed out a probably drawn Bishop vs. Knight ending against Clarke "Kent"
Brosi (1836).
Meanwhile, the CCC's new #1 player, defending Wendy's Champion FM Karthik
Ranjarajan (2586p) snagged
a pawn from challenger Master Elect Daniel "Johnny" Tapia

Ozherelyev (1614) and the battle between
Walter "Mitty" Overman
(1661) and
Jesse "James"
Eddleman (1645) ended peacefully.
In the "C" Section leading with 1-0,
Winfred
"Guns"
Gatlin
