Greetings from
Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, Earth to everyone out there in cyberia,
and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. On this page, which is
continuously updated, we will report a weekly synopsis of the previous
meeting to include current standings, annotated games, and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening
pleasure. We welcome your contributions and comments on our

McCartney Promoted to Chief TD for
CCC!
Charlotte, NC 11-26-06: Effective
immediately, and until further notice, LTD Patrick
McCartney will take over as chief Tournament Director for the Charlotte Chess Club.
This includes the Bertucci's
events as well as the Wednesday
evening round at Wendys.
Fuerstman will continue as chief organizer and Assistant TD by greeting
and
registering new members, collecting entry fees, occasionally
competing and editing the website.

A typical
pre-Christmas
turnout of 20 of the
Charlotte area's most competent calculators converged upon this factory
where chess champions are manufactured
more commonly known as Wendy's
in order to
participate in Rd:4 of Wendy's LXXXII. In the Top Section,
the CCC's #2 player,
the pride of Crouse, NC, 2005
CCC Player of the Year NM Frankie "Neutrino" Newton (2287)
demonstrated his superiority over Expert Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2114)
to lead with 3.5-1.5.
Meanwhile, Expert Todd
"Squirrelbreath" Trower (2099)
outplayed Gary "NightCrawler" Newsom (1952), Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2016) squeezed out a
Pawn up Bishop vs. Knight ending over NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman
(2016) and Laura "Karate Kid"
Lee (1832)
clobbered Michael "Bolton"
Kliber (1910). In the "B" Section,
Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes (I1725) performed successful
surgery on "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1702), Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1660) shared the point
with Samuel "Xman" Xin (1764) and Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1636) beat down Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1342). In the Lower
Section, Cesar "Read me my rights" Miranda (1309) outputted Fran
"Arnie" Palmer (1142) to lead with 3-1. Other Lower Section winners were: Amanda McCartney. All
results may be observed on the current "Crosstable".

Paradis Takes Clear 1st
in Bertucci's XVI
Charlotte NC 11-18-06: A grand total of 8 wildcat chessplayers
from 2
states including 2 Russian
immigrants refused to honor the "Boycott" and converged upon Bertucci's
Italian Restaurant in order to
participate in Bertucci's XVI. In the Top Section,
15 year old phenom Thomas
"Dolby" Paradis (1910) of
Charlotte dispatched of Slava Fedko (1239) in Rd:1, Drew with Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2016) in Rd:2 and outplayed Gary
"NightCrawler" Newsom (1952) in the final round to score 2.5-.5 and
take home $80.
Equal 2nd-4th were McCartney, Newsom and Tracy Callis (1893) from Virginia
each with 2-1
winning $13.33.
