Daniel Stays Perfect in Top; Brown Middle, Dadgar Lower Section of Wendy's XXIV
Charlotte, NC 4-18-01: Thirty-two of the Metrolina area's most creative thinkers, including 5 Certified USCF Masters, (and probably a few other "certified" types) converged upon our sacred temple of calculators more commonly known as Wendy's on Wednesday evening in order to compete in Rd:3 of Wendy's XXIV. In the Top Section, CCC Favorite Son, NC High School Champion, 17 year old phenom Expert Justin Daniel (2120) took NM Leland "Czar" Fuerstman (2013) to task as he squeezed a win from a R&P ending to lead the section with a perfect 3-0. Meanwhile, NM Frankie "Sans-Fritz" Newton (2235) without any third party assistance I might add, bested "the fastest rising player in the nation" Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (1769), NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2028) upset NM John "Night-Train" Lane (2108), Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1915) upset Dr. Armin Burghart (2015) and NM Garik "Outlaw" Wells (2072) yielded a Draw to David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1893). In the Cruiserweight Division, Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1846) defeated "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1648). In the Middle Section, Brandon "Esq.Jr" Brown (1406) upset D. Paul Jenkins (1576) to remain perfect while Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1587) took out Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1512). In the Lower Section, Danesh Dadgar (1263) scored his "sixth" consecutive victory (in CCC competition) with a convincing win over Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla (1302). Other Lower Section winners were: Winfred "Windy" Gatlin, Frank "Chessman" Johnson, Ernest "Omar" Sharif, Randy "King" Hunter, Jim "Sticks" Ulaky, Ankit Jivan and Michael Peters. All results may be viewed in the "Current Crosstable."(We now begin at 7:30pm sharp! LF). All welcome new CCC member Dennis DeBalso..

McCartney Takes 1st In Top; Dadgar Perfect in Lower Section of Smokehouse XIV
Charlotte, NC 4-14-01: On the morning after "Friday the 13th," thirteen of the CCC's most brave attempted to shake off the effects of triskaidekaphobia and compete in Smokehouse XIV.  In the Top Section, Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1915), in a curious lycanthropic manner, first went to the wire and Drew with NM Frankie "sans-Fritz" Newton (2235) before defeating Dr. Armin Burghart (2015) in Rd:2. In the final round, with an equal position, NM Daniel Liu's (2028) flag mysteriously fell while executing his 30th move!? giving McCartney a score of 2.5-.5 and winning $80. Equal 2nd-3rd with 2-1 were NM Leland "Czar" Fuerstman (2013), who upset NM Frankie "sans-Fritz" Newton (2235) for an unprecedented second time in 4 days! and Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (1769) who upset Fuerstman in Rd:1 each winning $20.In the Lower Section, Danesh Dadgar (1263) ruled the field with a perfect 3-0 winning $45. Equal 2nd-3rd were James "Sticks" Ulaky (1264) and  each winning $15. (Fuerstman directed) Next Smokehouse 5-12.
