The Charlotte Chess Club, an Affiliate of the USCF conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The time control is 30/1, G30 - Top Section G90. Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC sponsors a monthly 3 rd. Swiss at Bertucci's and other occasional tournaments. The Charlotte Chess Club has established itself as the premier Chess Club of the Southeast. With a current count of 70 members, we meet each Wednesday evening at 6:30 P.M. (or as early as 5:30 for some) at Wendy's Restaurant, 446 S. Independence Blvd., Charlotte, NC, USA (Directions) The
venue guarantees plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking and friendly management?! Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated events.

 Newton Wins 8th Title of the Year!; Ozherelyev "B"; Singelton "C"; Miranda Lower Section of Wendy's LXXXII
- Round Now Begins at 7:30 pm sharp!! -
windyCharlotte, NC 12-13-06: A grand total of 29 of the finest chessplayers in the Carolinas converged upon this 5 star restaurant more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Wendy's LXXXII. In the Top Section, with only minutes left on his clock, the CCC's #2 player, the pride of Crouse, NC, 2005 CCC Player of the Year NM Frankie "Neutrino" Newton (2287) found the winning line and dispatched of NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2016) to capture clear 1st Place with 4.5-.5 and take home $50. Finishing clear 2nd Place with 3.5-1.5 was Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2016) who split the point with Laura "Karate Kid" Lee (1832). In addition, Expert Todd "SquirrelBreath" Trower (2099) clobbered Michael "Bolton" Kliber (1910) while Tim "I just lost my" Rankin (1911) lost a marathon ECB ending to Gary "NightCrawler" Newsom (1952). In the "B" Section, Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1636) upset Samuel " Xman" Xin (1754) to finish 1 point ahead of the field with 2.5-1.5! In addition, Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1747) exited a phone booth on Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1660). In the "C" Section, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1581) wins by default with 2-0. In the Lower Section, Cesar "Read me my rights" Miranda (1307) scored 4-1 to take clear 1st Place and win Free Entry into Bertucci's XVII this Saturday, December 16. Other Lower Section winners were: Winfred "Guns" Gatlin, Fran "Arnie" Palmer and Corey Frazier. All results may be observed on the current "Crosstable". windyCharlotte NC 12-16-06: A grand total of 8 of the finest chessplayers in the Metrolina area participated in the CCC's final Bertucci's event of the year. (Next year, only 6 Bertucci's events are scheduled). In the Top Section, Gary "NightCrawler" Newsom (1952) dispatched  of Fran "Arnie" Palmer (1162), Dave "Greedy" Eadie (1578) and finally Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2016) to capture clear 1st Place with 3-0 and pocket $80. Equal 2nd-3rd with 2-1 were Expert Shawn "Arlo" Pealer (2111) and McCartney each with 2-1 and winning $20. In order to observe all results see (Crosstable).
