and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. On this page, which is
continuously updated, we will report a weekly synopsis of the previous
meeting to include current standings, annotated games, and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening
pleasure. We welcome your contributions and comments on our

Charlotte, NC 7-11-07: A slightly stronger
turnout of 19 of the most competent
calculators in the Carolinas converged upon this "abstract concepts"
classroom more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate
in Rd:4 of Wendy's 88. (After
many years, it was great to see renowned player and Director of the
80's
from Spartenburg, SC David K. Williams
who promises to join us soon!) In the Top Section,
Michael
"Bolton" Kliber (1941)
snagged the exchange, fended off a lively attack and ultimately
clobbered Expert Todd "Squirrel breath" Trower (2035) to lead with 3-0.
Meanwhile, NM Chris "the Babe"
Mabe (2247) lured
NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2033) into a prepared opening, snagged a
piece and converted (See Game 0603), Graduate of the Fuerstman
School of Chess, 13 year old phenom Samuel "Xman" Xin (1912) upset Expert Randy
Lovelace (2023) who overlooked a back rank mate, Professor Ken "the Great" Ivens (1817) manhandled Kevin
"Spacey" Haung (1836), 13 year old phenom Joshua "Moo" Mu (1804) outlasted Jonathan "Henry"
Hudson (1754) and the CCC's #1 player, the pride of Crouse, 2006

"Chips" Newton (2284) split
the pot with Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (1992). In the "B" Section, because he was either
performing a brain transplant or finding a cure for Asperger's
Syndrome, Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes (1695) requested and was
granted a 1/2 point Bye and leads with 2-2. In
addition, Dominique "Wilkins"
Myers (1505) upset
Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1635) and Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1257) upset
Marnzell Hand (1612). In the Lower
Section, "Smokin" Joe Benet (Unr) leads with 4-0. All
results may be observed on the current "Crosstable."

Ozherelyev, Wheeless Lower Section of Quaker
Steak II
Charlotte NC 6-16-07: A dozen of some of the
finest young chess talents in North Carolina gathered at our new
facility in order to participate in Quaker
Steak II. The playing room was
well lighted and extremely quiet, the free coffee was hot and the food
was reasonably priced and delicious! In the Top Section,
Team Davidson's Expert James "Mason" Dickson (2013) dispatched of Clarke "Kent" Brosi
(1775) in Rd:1, Patrick "Fabio" McCartney
(1986) in Rd:2 and NM Leland
"Ennui" Fuerstman (2043) in the final round to take clear 1st Place with a perfect 3-0 and
pocket $80.
Clear 2nd Place was Gary "Nightcrawler" Newsom (1975) with 2.5-.5
winning $40.
In the Lower Section, NCCA President Charles R. "Randy" Wheeless (1629) and Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1575) finished equal
1st-2nd with 2.5-.5 each
winning $30.
