Here is the only truth:  "We are the pawns of the mysterious game of chess played by God,  who moves us,  stops us,  shifts us ahead,  and soon picks us up one after the other and gathers us in the same box of  Nothing."
Omar Khayyam 1040 ad

"Chess grips its exponent, shackling the mind and brain so that the inner freedom and independence of even the strongest character cannot remain unaffected."  Albert Einstein
"Imagination does not breed insanity. Exactly what does breed insanity is reason.  Poets do not go mad;  but chess-players do".

A slightly stronger turnout of 19 of the most competent calculators in the Carolinas converged upon this "abstract concepts" classroom more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:4 of Wendy's 88. In the Top Section, Michael "Bolton" Kliber (1941) snagged the exchange, fended off a  lively attack and ultimately clobbered Expert Todd "Squirrel breath" Trower (2035) to lead with 3-0. Meanwhile, NM Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2247) lured NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2033) into a prepared opening, snagged a piece and converted (See Game 0603), Graduate of the Fuerstman School of Chess, 13 year old phenom Samuel "Xman" Xin (1912) upset Expert Randy Lovelace (2023) who overlooked a back rank mate, Professor Ken "the Great" Ivens (1817) manhandled Kevin "Spacey" Haung (1836), 13 year old phenom Joshua "Moo" Mu (1804) outlasted Jonathan "Henry" Hudson (1754) and the CCC's #1 player, the pride of Crouse, 2006 CCC Player of the Year NM Frankie "Chips" Newton (2284) split the pot with Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (1992). In the "B" Section, because he was either performing a brain transplant or finding a cure for Asperger's Syndrome, Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes (1695) requested and was granted a 1/2 point Bye and leads with 2-2. In addition, Dominique "Wilkins" Myers (1505) upset Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1635) and Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1257) upset Marnzell Hand (1612).
