Five Lead Top; Jivan "B"; C. Wheeless "C"; Dewbre Lower Section of Wendy's LXXI; Fall Schedule Rounds now Begin at 7:30 sharp!
Charlotte, NC 11-2-05:  Another moderate turnout of 30 of the greater Charlotte area's most ambitious competitors  journied to this arena where mental jousting is contested more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:2 of Wendy's LXXI. In the Top Section, just prior to the round the the pride of Crouse, NC, the CCC's #2 player, NM Frankie "Neutrino" Newton (2303) AKA the Gladiator's second requested on his behalf, and was granted a 1/2 point Bye, as was Expert Michael "See You Are; See You are You" Curcuru (2087) placing them in a five way tie for the lead. (Get well soon, Frankie!) Also leading are the CCC's #4 player, Expert Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2105) who quickly dispatched of Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (1992) and the CCC's #3 player, NM Justin "Dawg" Daniel (2192) who yielded a hard fought Draw to SC Expert Keith "Chucky" Eubanks (2098) each with 1.5-.5. In addition, 2005 NC Class "A" Champion Gary "Sandbagger" Branton (1878) somehow turned the tables from what appeared to be a clearly lost position versus NM Leland "El-Moron" Fuerstman (2041) (See Game 0522) while brilliant Davidson College student Tim "I just improved my" Rankin (1849) upset Expert Gary "the Nuisance" Newsom (2013). In the "B" Section, who needs Karthik? when we have Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1668) who beat down Marty "Fritz" Katz (1758) to lead with 2-0. Meanwhile, Keith "Sherlock" Holmes (1658) solved the case against Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1669), "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1818) slipped against Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1597) and Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1787) made peace with Laura "Karate Kid" Lee (1814). In the "C" Section, Colette "Wheels" Wheeless (1544) outran Drexall "Frank" Shorter (1518) to lead with 2-0. In addition, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1523) played taps for Chris Kohlhepp (1338) and SC player Robert "I need a" Halliday (1525) split the point with SC player Herbalife guru Donald "Trump" Hofer (1559). In the Lower Section, Doyle "W" Dewbre III (992) defeated Joe Shirlen (1078) to lead with 2-0. Other Lower Section winners were: "Gentleman" Doug Corbett and Adam Jaffe. All results may be observed on the "Current Crosstable" E-mail me at lelandfue@yahoo.com to add your name to the "List of Players" who intend to participate in Bertucci's V Saturday, November 19.
