NEWS & VIEWS 10-13-05Fuerstman Leads Top; Lee "B"; Singleton, Nichols "C"; Wuor Lower Section of Wendy's LXX; Fall Schedule Rounds now Begin at 7:30 sharp! Charlotte, NC 10-12-05: An annual low turnout of 23 of the most loyal members of the CCC Royal Guard congregated at this bastion where mental wars are fought more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:4 of Wendy's LXX. In the Top Section,  the CCC's #7 player,
the pride Mint Hill, NC, NM Leland
"Perro Grande" Fuerstman
(2024) employing the Pirc-Robatch Defense, handily defended an all out
assault by Expert John M. "See You Are; See You Are You" Curcuru
(2077). This 19 move felony (See Game 0518) puts Fuerstman at 3.5-.5, already
1 point ahead of the field and guaranteed a "CCC Title." Meanwhile, the "Gary Wars"
continue as Expert Gary "the
Nuisance" Newsom (2006) upended 2005 NC Class
"A" Champion Gary "Sandbagger" Branton (1886), 2005 NC Class "B" Champion Jonathan "the Enforcer" Munnell (1824)  upset Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney
(2025) and the CCC's #2 player, the pride of Crouse, NC, NM Frankie "Schlecter" Newton (2301) split the point with
the CCC's #3 player, NM Justin
"Dawg" Daniel (2191). In the "B" Section, Laura "Karate Kid" Lee (1788) prevailed after a cat
fight with Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1627) to lead
with 3-1.
In addition, Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1573) drowned in the Jonathan "Henry" Hudson (1714) river. In the "C" Section, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1498) outplayed Viktor
"the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1592) to share the lead at 3 points with
Ervon "Wooden" Nichols (1474) who bested Adam
Jaffe (Unr). Meanwhile, Colette
"Wheels" Wheeless (1573)
rolled over Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1486). In the Lower Section, Dyrus "What is it good for?" Wuor (1254) leads with 2.5-.5. Other
Lower Section winners were: Copeland Blackwell. All

Top; Xin Dominates Lower Section of
Bertucci's IV Charlotte NC 10-15-05: A grand total of 16 chessplayers from as far away as Columbia, SC travelled to the Queen City in order to participate in Bertucci's IV. In the Top Section, Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2025)  dispatched of Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1623) in Rd:1, prevailed in a crazy Exchange
Variation of the French versus NM Leland "Perro Grande" Fuerstman
(2024) in Rd:2, and outplayed
Expert John M. "See You Are; See You Are You" Curcuru (2077) in the Rd:3 (See Game 0519) to take clear 1st Place with 3-0
and pocket $100.
Equal 2nd-3rd with 2-1 were Curcuru and benevolent SCCA
President James "BigMac" MacDougall (1902) each winning $25. In the Lower Section, graduate
of the Fuerstman
School of Chess 10 year old phenom Samuel "Reshevsky" Xin (1555)
continues his reign capturing clear 1st
Place with 2.5-.5 and
taking home $60.
Equal 2nd-3rd were Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1588) and Duncan "Doughnuts" McLaughlin (1277) each with 1.5-1.5
