Newton Leads Top; Baker "B"; Ozherelyev "C"; Richards Lower Section of Wendy XLIV
Charlotte, NC  4-16-03:  A recent record low of  only twenty-nine loyal members of the President's Royal Guard put down their poison pens and participated in Rd:4 of Wendy's XLIV. In the Top Section, the CCC's #1 player, current NC State Champion NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2290) outflanked Assistant Tournament Director Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1967) to take a commanding lead with 3.5-.5 and guarantee his unprecedented 27th Wendy's Title. Meanwhile, the CCC's Favorite Son, current NC Scholastic Champion Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2123) split the point with Chris "the Babe" Mabe (1978) as did NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu (2000) with Bobby Waddell (1740). In the "B" Section, the Good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1695) (who was kind enough to assist us in my absence at a Passover Seder) outlasted Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1675) to lead with 3-1. In addition, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1668) manhandled "George C" Scott Baldwin (1775), Jonathan "the Enforcer" Munnell (1697) bested "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1703) (See Game 0298) and Dr. Gerard "the Butcher" Sztyber (1764) allowed the patient to escape from the operating table with all of his vital organs in tact as he Drew with Danesh "DD" Dadgar (1614). In the "C" Section, Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian" Ozherelyev (1538) leads with 3-1 after defeating Michael "the Savage" Savage (1421). In addition, Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1552) "made his day" versus Jim "Sticks" Ulaky (1407) while Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1423) outdueled CCC Player Representative Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla (1355). In the Lower Section, though he did not show for Rd:4 relinquishing his chance for a $100 Bonus"Iron" Mike Richards (1331) still leads with 3-0.
