Charlotte, NC 7-11-01: A whopping thirty-eight of the Charlotte area's most notorious chess energumens downed their "whoppers" and participated in Rd:4 of Wendy's XXVI. In the Top Section, leader NM John "Night-Train" Lane (2095) could only manage a Draw versus NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2011) allowing the CCC's #1 Player, NM  Frankie "Neutron Bomb" Newton II (2190), who defeated NM Leland "Czar" Fuerstman (2027) from a botched draw which featured two time scrambles, to equal the leader's 3-1 score.  Also, in the Top Section, newly crowned "Expert" Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2001) administered a lethal dose of kryptonite to mild mannered Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1808) while with the Black pieces, David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1864) ethnically cleansed Slobodan Sinanovic (1600). In the Middle Section, Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1668) handed Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1474) his head while Marnzell Hand (1600) bested "CEO" Mike Isner (1455) and Brandon "Esq.Jr" Brown (1439) initiated newcomer David Lloyd (Unr).  In addition, Paul Lucas (1600) beat Paul Calloway (1600) while Danesh "the Mad Iranian" Dadgar (1453) split the point with Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1562). In the Lower Section, Frank "Chessman" Johnson (1270) will attempt to pocket a $100 Bonus next week after having realed off his 4th consecutive win over Charles Blackwood (1382) in Rd:4.
