Ashamalla, Hashemloo Lower Section of Wendy's XXXVII Charlotte,
NC 7-31-02: A rather healthy turnout
of 40 of the Charlotte area's most creative
calculators converged upon our sacred temple
of thinkers more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate
in Rd:3 of Wendy's XXXVII. In the Top Section,
NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2219)
won his 10th consecutive tournament game at the CCC with a handy
victory over NM John "Night Train" Lane (2091). Meanwhile, with the Black
pieces, CCC Favorite Son, NC High School Champion, 17
year old phenom, Expert and soon to be Master Justin "Dog" Daniel
(2178)
out maneuvered NM Leland "El-Presidente" Fuerstman (2000), Daniel
"Johnny"
Tapia
(2048) tamed Slobodan
"the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1720) and Clarke "Kent"
Brosi (1821)
ducked into a phone booth and emerged as Superman versus Jon "Cigars"
Pietras (1798). In the Middle Section,
Frank "Moo"
Mu (1621) leads with 3-0 after
deporting Danesh "Ayatollah" Dadgar (1619), Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian"
Ozherelyev (1400) counter punched "Smokin" Brian Fraiser (1619),
Nathan "TechDude" Eerenberg (1535) bested Doug "Sky' Millsaps
(1644), the good Reverend Bernard "Bman" Baker (1587) smote
Algie "Van" Clyburn (1533), Jerome "Cookie Monster" DeBell
(1628) split the point with Euphemia "Moo" Mu (1506) and
after a curious conclusion, "CEO" Mike Isner (1594) agreed to a
"gentleman's" Draw with Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1560). In the
Lower
Section,
Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla (1245) defeated Nick "BamBam"
Bambara (1366) while Hassan Hashemloo
(1062) handled Neil Helton
(Unr)each leading with 3-0.

in Smokehouse XXIX. In the Top Section, Expert
and soon to be Master Harold "Wyn" Mouzon (2195)
of Charlotte dispatched of Keith Eubanks (2036) of Columbia, SC, NM Leland
Fuerstman (2009) and Daniel Tapia (2036) to score a perfect 3-0
and pocket $100.
Equal 2nd-4th with 2-1
were NM Joseph Jurjevich (2145), Daniel Tapia (2036) and
Chris
Mabe (1889) each taking home $17.
The Middle Section was controlled by Paul Calloway
(1645) of Horse Shoe, NC and "Team Columbia" stars James MacDougall
(1560) and Kermon
Lane (1458) each scoring 2.5-.5
and winning $50.
In the Lower Section, Lee Nevitt (947) and Jonathan
Munnell (Unr) each scored 2.5-.5
and pocketed $60.
