Newton Leads Top; Holmes "B"; Shorter, Gatlin, Singleton "C"; McLaughlin Lower Section of Wendy's LXXII
Charlotte, NC 12-14-05:  A slightly stronger turnout of 30 of the Metrolina area's most congenial chess elves converged upon this toy factory where generic gifts are manufactured for generic holidays more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:3 of Wendy's LXXII. In the Top Section, citing potentially bad weather somewhere, the CCC's #2 player, the pride of Crouse, NC, 2005 CCC Player of the Year NM Frankie "Neutrino" Newton (2294) AKA the Gladiator's second requested on his behalf, and was granted a half point Bye allowing him to maintain the lead with 2.5-.5. Meanwhile, the CCC's #7 player, the pride of Mint Hill, NC, 2005 CCC Expert of the Year NM Leland "Perro Grande" Fuerstman (2037) didn't exactly clobber, but ultimately defeated Michael "Jordan" Kliber (1919) (See Game 0532), the CCC's #3 player, the pride of Iron Station, NC NM Justin "Dawg" Daniel (2180) survived a complicated melee versus the CCC's #10 player, 2005 CCC "A" Player of the Year Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2000) and newly crowned Class "A" player Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1804) made his day against newly crowned Class "A" player Laura "Karate Kid" Lee (1800). In the "B" Section, Keith "Sherlock" Holmes (1713) upstaged Samuel "Reshevsky" Xin (1619) to lead with 2-1. In addition, "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1780) squeaked by Amelia "Wheels" Wheeless (1675). In the "C" Section, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1515) played "taps" for Drexall "Frank" Shorter (1518) to catch the leaders with 2-1 as Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1562) bested Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1451). In addition, Colette "Wheels" Wheeless (1603) fired Donald "Trump" Hofer (1598) and Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1575) busted Randy "I'm not afraid of" Hight (1510) (See Game 0533).
