Greetings
from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, Earth to
everyone out there in cyberia, and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club
website. We have finally entered the ultra modern age of instant communication.
In this column, which is updated every Thursday,
we will strive to report a weekly synopsis of the previous meeting to include
current standings, annotated games, and other interesting anecdotes for
your reading, viewing, and listening
pleasure.
Our goal is to eventually provide our members with a "realtime" site which
will instantly produce current information about chess with the click of
a mouse! We welcome your comments and contributions

Fuerstman, McCartney Lead Top; Brosi, Isner Middle;
Plyler 4-0 in Lower Section of Wendy's XXXII
Charlotte,
NC 2-13-02: A veritable
crwth of 34 of the Charlotte area's most venerable
chess players, and a few youngsters first exchanged Valentine cards
and then participated in Rd:4 of Wendy's XXXII. In
the Top Section, with the Black pieces, NM Leland
"Premier" Fuerstman (2012) squeezed
out a win on time versus Garrick "Outlaw" Wells (2098) to maintain a share
of the lead with 3-1. (See Game 0204)
Also with the Black pieces, Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1896) upset
15 year old phenom, soon to be Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (1992) keeping
pace with 3-1. In addition, NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000)
made minced meat of David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1853). In the Middle
Section,
Clarke
"Kent" Brosi (1748) yielded
a Draw to "CEO" Mike Isner (1515) leaving each at 3.5-.5. Meanwhile,
Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1617) busted up Doug "Sky"
Millsaps (1637), David "Richman" Richards (1615) handled
Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1660), Deneil "Slick" Brazell (1492)
tricked Danesh "Shah" Dadgar (1568) and Michael "You Know You Make
Me Wanna" Shoup (1471) broke bad on Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton
(1464). In the Lower Section, vying for the $100
Bonus, Clyde "the Glide" Plyler (1347) remains
as the lone 4-0 in the tournament after defeating Nathan "TechDude"
Eerenberg (Unr). (See Game 0205)

Pohl Returns with
a Vengeance; Dadgar Wins Lower Section of Smokehouse XXIV
Charlotte,
NC 1-19-02: Sixteen weekend warriors participated
in Smokehouse XXIV. In the Top Section, SM
Klaus
Pohl (2200) from
Greenville, SC registered wins over Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1896),
Ken J. Baxter (1936) and Expert Gary "Player" Newsom (2013) respectively
to score a perfect 3-0 and take home
$100.
Clear 2nd Place with 2.5-.5 was NM Daniel "Deep"
Liu
(2000) who pocketed $50. In the Lower Section,
Danesh
"Shah" Dadgar (1568) was
also perfect with wins over Bernard Baker, "CEO" Mike Isner, and Jim "Sticks"
Ulaky winning $60. Clear 2nd Place prize of $30
