CCC NEWS &VIEWS 2-21-02 By NM Leland Fuerstman Fuerstman, McCartney Share Top Honors; Isner Wins Middle; Plyler Lower Section of Wendy's XXXII Charlotte, NC 2-20-02:  A grand total of 58 of the  most courageous competitors in the Charlotte area ignored their flu like symptoms and participated in Wendy's XXXII. In the Top Section, scoring 3.5-1.5, NM Leland "Premier" Fuerstman (2012) captured his 11thWendy's Title after a final round Draw versus Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1892). Fuerstman's schedule included wins over NM F. Newton (2233) and NM G. Wells (2098). Also scoring 3.5-1.5 and capturing his 3rd Wendy's Title, McCartney's schedule included wins over NM G. Wells (2098) and Daniel Tapia (1992). Meanwhile, NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2033) split the point with CCC Favorite Son, 17 year old phenom, Justin "Dog" Daniel (2184) as did NM Garrick "Outlaw" Wells  (2098) with 15 year old phenom, soon to be Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (1992). The Middle Section was controlled by "CEO" Mike Isner (1515) who defeated Danesh "Ayatollah" Dadgar (1568) scoring  4.5-.5. In addition, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1617) 4-0, upset Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1748), Michael "Y" Shoup (1471) upset David "Richman" Richards (1615), "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1675) beat down Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1634) and Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1660) handled Marnzell Hand (1600). In the Lower Section scoring 4.5-.5, Clyde "the Glide" Plyler (1347) fell one half point short of winning the $100 Bonus after a final round Draw with Viktor Ozhrelyev (Unr)(See Game 0206) . Other Lower Section winners were: Bernard Baker 4-1, Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla4-1, Nathan "TechDude" Eerenberg4-1, Daneil "Slick" Brazell, Jim "Sticks" Ulaky, Joe "SticksJr" Ulaky, Copeland Blackwell, Sheila Blackwell, Lee "R&Bman" Richardson, Thomas Jensen and Eric Rust. In the Top Section, SM Klaus Pohl (2200) from Greenville, SC registered wins over Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1896), Ken J. Baxter (1936) and Expert Gary "Player" Newsom (2013) respectively to score a perfect 3-0 and take home $100. Clear 2nd Place with 2.5-.5 was NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000) who pocketed $50. In the Lower Section, Danesh "Shah" Dadgar (1568) was also perfect with wins over Bernard Baker, "CEO" Mike Isner, and Jim "Sticks" Ulaky winning $60.
