Newton Leads Top; Baker Middle;
J. Mu Lower Section of Wendy's XLIII
Charlotte,
NC 3-5-03: Another
complete madhouse of 39 chessplayers of various origins converged
upon this factory of creative thinkers more commonly known as Wendy's in
order to participate in Rd:3 of Wendy's XLIII. In
the Top Section, the CCC's #1 active player, current
NC State Champion, NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2255) returned
with a vengence as he derailed NM John "NightTrain" Lane (2080) to
register his 11th
consecutive win at the CCC! and lead
with 2.5-.5
Meanwhile, NM Leland "El-Duce" Fuerstman (2033) burst
through the enemy lines of Normandy causing an early surrender of the French
Defense conducted by Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2033) (See
Game 0291), Deneil "Sean" Brazell (1828)
used kryptonite on mild mannered Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1870) and NM Daniel
"Schlecter" Liu (2000) split the point with Chris "the Babe"
Mabe
(1975). In the Cruiserweight Division, employing precision
surgery with contaminated tools, Dr. Gerard "the Butcher"
Sztyber
(1736) removed all of the vital organs of returnee to competition M. Dean
Hart (1852) and Brandon Lee (1698) manhandled Frank "Moo" Mu (1717).
In the Middle Section, the good Reverend Bernard "King"
Baker
(1600) spoiled the day of
Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1462) to lead with 3-0.

Game 0292). In addition, Daryl "Flash" Gordon
(1700)
deported Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian" Ozherelyev (1600), Scott Baldwin
(1775) bested Josh Willen (1670), Bobby Waddell (1740) handled Danesh
Dadgar (1520),
Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1420) played
taps for Winfred "Guns" Gatlin and CCC Player Representative
Alphonse
"Fonz"
Ashamalla
(1355) executed a 211 point upset over "CEO"
Mike Isner (1566). In the Lower Section, =5th in the Nation,
7 year old phenom Joshua "Moo" Mu (1401) embarrassed
Tony Hicks (1100) to lead with 3-0.
Other Lower Section winners were: Michael "the Savage"
Savage,
Keneth
Lichtfeldt, Jim "Sticks" Ulaky, Hassan Hashemloo,
Clyde "the Glyde" Plyler and Ree Lichardson, I mean Lee
"R&Bman"
Richardson.

Moreira Perfect in Top; MacDougall,
Baker Middle; Savage Lower Section of
Smokehouse XXXVI
Charlotte,
NC 2-22-02: Almost three
complete sections of a total of 29
chessplayers from various origins participated
in Smokehouse XXXVI. In the Top Section,
which was noticably absent of many of Charlotte's top players, (some
speculated that the fear of losing was the reason),NM
Jairo
Moreira (2339) ran off consecutive wins against Chris "the Babe" Mabe
(1975), Keith "Chuck" Eubanks (2048) and NM Joseph Jurjevich (2158)
to score a perfect 3-0
and take home $100.
Equal 2nd-5th with 2-1 were NM Joseph Jurjevich, Keith
Eubanks, Patrick McCartney and Chris Mabe (See
Game 0289) each winning $12.50.
In order to view NM Fuerstman's Rd:1 game versus Brosi (See
Game 0290) In the Middle
Section,
perfect 3-0's
were reported by two players. The
good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1600) registered wins
against Matthew Walker (1522), Mike Isner (1566) and Richard Stancil (1628)
while James MacDougall (1728) defeated
Mike Isner, William Slade (1533) and Sam Copeland (1784). Each pocketed
$75.
In the Lower Section, Michael "the Savage" Savage
(1345) also
scored 3-0
with wins over Kevin Connelly (1132), Frank "Chessman" Johnson (1520) and
Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1447), wow!
Savage won $90.
Equal 2nd-5th with 2-1
winning $11.25
were Gatlin, Tony Hicks, Travis Filling and Paul
