NC 4-3-04: Because of her exceptional recent results, the
Executive Committee
of the CCC has determined that until further notice, 15 year old LAURA
LEE has earned the honor of competing in the
"B"
Section of all CCC rated events. According
to Expert Chris Mabe, "the girl is on a rampage." You go, girl! LF

Wendy's LV Begins

NC 4-14-04: A moderate
turnout of 36
of the Metrolina area's most creative calculators abandoned their W-2's
and 1099's and
converged upon this virtual H&R Block processing center more commonly
known as Wendy's in order to partipate in Rd:1 of Wendy's
LV. In
the Top Section, here observed taking a bit of a snooze,
the CCC's #1 player, NM Frankie "the Neutron Bomb" Newton
(2242) detonated his ordnance upon the defense of Chris "the Babe" Mabe
(2019) to lead with 1-0.
Meanwhile, 7th
on the list of 17 year olds in the Nation,
CCC Favorite Son and three time NC Scholastic Champion Candidate
Master Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2157) yielded
a Queen vs. Rooks Draw to returnee to CCC competition Patrick "Flanker"
McCartney
(2011) (See Game 0391) while
celebrated icon NM Daniel "Schlechter" Liu (2037) again allowed
his largess to override reason and agreed to a Draw with NM Leland
"Premier Hombre" Fuerstman (2000). In the "B" Section, the
good Reverend
Bernard "King" Baker
(1774) drove 6 straight hours directly to the CCC and sumarily dispatched
of Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1650), Chris
"Dirty Harry" Callahan (1664) made his day against Mark "Shaken,
not" Sturman (1709), Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev
(1632) handed a loss to Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1600), Dave "Ameen"
Eadie
(1650+) did the cymbals thing to Jim "Sticks" Ulaky (1606) and Laura
"Karate Kid" Lee (1700+) split the point with Danesh
"DD" Dadgar (1759). In the "C" Section, 59th
on
the list of 11 year olds in the Nation Kevin "Spacey"
Huang
(1441) outlasted 53rd
on
the list of 11 year olds in the Nation Michael "Angelo" Easterwood
(1473) as Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1524) made peace with Jonathan
"Lex" Hudson (Unr). In the Lower Section, wins were
submitted by Robert "Prince"

turnout of 24
competitors from North and South Carolina journied to the Queen City
in order to participate in Smokehouse L. On this festive
occasion, five
auspicious players received free lunches
as well as 2 Charlotte chess club tee
shirts won by Patrick McGann and Dr. Gerard
"the Butcher" Sztyber. An
enjoyable time was had by all! In the Top Section, member
of the NC Chess
Hall of Fame NM Leland "Premier
Hombre" Fuerstman (2000) of Charlotte dispatched of Robert C. Moore
(1700) and Expert Michael "See You Are; See You Are You" Curcucu (2056)
(See
Game 0392) before agreeing
to a GM Draw with Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2011) of Charlotte
who bested Mark "Shaken, not" Sturman (1709) and Chris "the Babe" Mabe
(2019). Each scored 2.5-.5
and pocketed $75. In
the Lower Section, Jeremy "Irons Davenport
(1641) of Charlotte defeated Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1492) and Michael "Angelo"
Easterwood (1474) before playing to a Draw with Daniel Solarez (1682)
of Raleigh who handled Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1441) and Michael "the Savage"
Savage (1686). Each scored 2.5-.5
and took home $75.
