turnout of 32
of my most loyal subjects, and almost as many curious "visitors"
participated in Rd:4 of Wendy's LV. (Hey, Wendy's
had a great night! See "Committee")In
the Top Section, the CCC's #1 Player, a guy who generally
knows better not to comment on anything!, the pride of Crouse, NC, NM Frankie
"Neutron" Newton (2242) outflanked distinguished Committee Member
Patrick "Flanker" McCartney to lead with 3.5-.5.
(Note
to Expert Tapia: This club was not designed solely to accommodate
the "great" NM Frankie Newton; he just wins! All you gotta do is
come and beat him, and
me!? Love ya, Taps!)
Meanwhile, Chris "the Babe" Mabe(2019)
sprung a surprise on NM Leland "Premier-Hombre" Fuerstman (2000)(See
Game 0395) ,
Clarke
"Kent" Brosi (1829) welcomed new member Shawn Pealer (1950) and
26thon
the list of 13 year olds in the Nation, Frank "Moo" Mu(1818)
outmaneuvered distinguished Committee Member the good Reverend Bernard
"King" Baker (1774). In the "B" Section, Chris "Dirty Harry"
Callahan (1664) made peace with distinguished Committee Member "Iron"
Mike Eberhardinger (1687) and Viktor "the Mad Russian"
Ozherelyev
(1632) beat down Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1650) to each lead with 2.5-1.5.
In addition, Mark "Shaken, not" Sturman (1709) shared the
point with Danesh "Schlechter" Dadgar (1759) and returnee
to competition David "the Bear" Griffin (1620) did likewise
with Jonathan "the Enforcer" Munnell (1745). In
the "C" Section, vying for the $100
Bonus, 59thon
the list of 11 year olds in the Nation, and current NC Scholastic K-5
Champion Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1441) agreed to play and defeated
Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1600) to lead with 4-0.
In addition, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1533) gunned down
distinguished Committee member Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1524), Dave
"Ameen" Eadie (1492) survived a cat fight with Marty "Fritz" Katz
(1258) and Phillip "Morris" Whittington (1502) squeeked by
13th
on the list of 8 year olds in the Nation, and current NC Scholastic
K-3 Champion Joshua "Moo" Mu (1417). In
the Lower Section, also vying for the $100
Bonus, John "the Mad Siberian" Grechka (1224) quickly dispatched
of Todd Essex (1220) (See Game
0394) to lead with 4-0.
Other Lower Section winners were: Samuel "Reshevsky"
Xin,
Ervon "Wooden" Nichols and F. Dean "Place Your" Betts.

Top Honors; Davenport, Solarez Take Lower Section of Smokehouse #50!

NC 4-17-04: A moderate
turnout of 24
competitors from North and South Carolina journied to the Queen City
in order to participate in Smokehouse L. On this festive
occasion, five
auspicious players received free lunches
as well as 2 Charlotte chess club tee
shirts won by Patrick McGann and Dr. Gerard
"the Butcher" Sztyber. An
enjoyable time was had by all! In the Top Section, member
of the NC Chess
Hall of Fame NM Leland "Premier
Hombre" Fuerstman (2000) of Charlotte dispatched of Robert C. Moore
(1700) and Expert Michael "See You Are; See You Are You" Curcucu (2056)
(See
Game 0392) before agreeing
to a GM Draw with Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2011) of Charlotte
who bested Mark "Shaken, not" Sturman (1709) and Chris "the Babe" Mabe
(2019). Each scored 2.5-.5
and pocketed $75. In
the Lower Section, Jeremy "Irons Davenport
(1641) of Charlotte defeated Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1492) and Michael "Angelo"
Easterwood (1474) before playing to a Draw with Daniel Solarez (1682)
of Raleigh who handled Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1441) and Michael "the Savage"
Savage (1686). Each scored 2.5-.5
and took home $75.
