Newton Leads Top; Callahan, Ozherelyev "B"; Huang 4-0 in "C"; Grechka 4-0 in Lower Section of Wendy's LV
Charlotte, NC 5-5-04:  A typical turnout of 32 of my most loyal subjects, and almost as many curious "visitors" participated in Rd:4 of Wendy's LV. (Hey, Wendy's had a great night! See "Committee")In the Top Section, the CCC's #1 Player, a guy who generally knows better not to comment on anything!, the pride of Crouse, NC, NM Frankie "Neutron" Newton (2242) outflanked distinguished Committee Member Patrick "Flanker" McCartney to lead with 3.5-.5. (Note to Expert Tapia: This club was not designed solely to accommodate the "great" NM Frankie Newton; he just wins! All you gotta do is come and beat him, and me!? Love ya, Taps!) Meanwhile, Chris "the Babe" Mabe(2019) sprung a surprise on NM Leland "Premier-Hombre" Fuerstman (2000)(See Game 0395) , Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1829) welcomed new member Shawn Pealer (1950) and 26thon the list of 13 year olds in the Nation, Frank "Moo" Mu(1818) outmaneuvered distinguished Committee Member the good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1774). In the "B" Section, Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1664) made peace with distinguished Committee Member "Iron" Mike Eberhardinger (1687) and Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1632) beat down Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1650) to each lead with 2.5-1.5. In addition, Mark "Shaken, not" Sturman (1709) shared the point with Danesh "Schlechter" Dadgar (1759) and returnee to competition David "the Bear" Griffin (1620) did likewise with Jonathan "the Enforcer" Munnell (1745). In the "C" Section, vying for the $100 Bonus, 59thon the list of 11 year olds in the Nation, and current NC Scholastic K-5 Champion Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1441) agreed to play and defeated Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1600) to lead with 4-0. In addition, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1533) gunned down distinguished Committee member Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1524), Dave "Ameen" Eadie (1492) survived a cat fight with Marty "Fritz" Katz (1258) and Phillip "Morris" Whittington (1502) squeeked by 13th on the list of 8 year olds in the Nation, and current NC Scholastic K-3 Champion Joshua "Moo" Mu (1417). In the Lower Section, also vying for the $100 Bonus, John "the Mad Siberian" Grechka (1224) quickly dispatched of Todd Essex (1220) (See Game 0394)  to lead with 4-0. Other Lower Section winners were: Samuel "Reshevsky" Xin, Ervon "Wooden" Nichols and F. Dean "Place Your" Betts. All results may be observed on the "Current Crosstable."  All welcome back Dave Griffin and new member, ex-USCF office employee, Shawn Pealer. Next Smokehouse May 15. In the Top Section, member of the NC Chess Hall of Fame NM Leland "Premier Hombre" Fuerstman (2000) of Charlotte dispatched of Robert C.
