Fuerstman Leads Top; Waddell
"B"; Ulaky "C"; Jivan & Lee 3-0
in Lower Section of Record Breaking Wendy's XLVI
Charlotte,
NC 6-18-03: A rather
strong turnout of 42
of the Metrolina area's most aquatic competitors
parked their watercraft at this popular boat dock more commonly known as
Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:3 of Wendy's XLVI.
(After
only 3 rounds, a total of 68
players have participated breaking the old record of 66!)In
the Top Section, NM Leland "El-Duce" Fuerstman
(2017) pretty much got picked apart like a crab until Patrick "Flanker"
McCartney (1931) ran short of time and fell prey to a tactical trick (See
Game 0307)allowing Fuerstman
to lead with
2.5-.5.
Meanwhile, with seconds left on his clock, the CCC's #1 player, current
NC State Champion, NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2309) solved
a curious K & P endgame puzzle versus NC Scholastic Champion, Expert
Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2121) while the CCC's most newly crowned Expert!
Chris
"the Babe" Mabe (2003U)
got by NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000). In the "B" Section, Bobby
"Duck" Waddell (1749) demonstrated his endgame skills versus Danesh
"DD" Dadgar (1624) to lead with 2.5-.5.

"the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1668) (See

Frank
"Moo" Mu (1718) chopped down Tarokh "the Oak" Taefi (1724) and Daryl
"Flash" Gordon (1669) made peace with Chris "Dirty Harry"
Callahan
(1572). In the "C" Section, Jim
"Sticks" Ulaky (1407) split the point with 3rd in the Nation, 8
year old phenom Joshua "Moo" Mu (1516) to lead with 2.5-.5.

Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1405) got by Randy Hight (1485) while
