Baldwin "B"; Ulaky "C"; Jivan 4-0
in Lower Section of Record Breaking Wendy's XLVI
Charlotte,
NC 6-25-03: From many
origins and walks of life, 42
ambitious competitors again
journied to this factory of creative calculators more commonly
known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:4 of Wendy's
XLVI.
(After
4 rounds, a total of 73!
players have played breaking the old record of 66). In
the Top Section, the CCC's #1 player, current NC State Champion,
NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2316) sacrificed everthing but
the kitchen sink against Patrick "Frencher" McCartney (1931) (For
sale: French rifle; only dropped once!?) to share
the lead with 3-1.
Keeping pace was NM Leland "El-Duce" Fuerstman (2017) who
attempted to win, but couldn't versus NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu
(2000). In addition, Expert Keith "Kevin" Eubanks (2050) was upset by Michael
"See you are; See you are you" Curcuru (1808). In the "B" Section,
"George C" Scott Baldwin (1768) survived against Danesh "DD" Dadgar
(1624) to lead with 3-1.
Meanwhile, Tarokh "the Oak" Taefi (1667) stopped Bobby
"Duck" Waddell (1776), James "Big" MacDougall (1797)
excommunicated the good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1707) and Frank
"Moo" Mu (1679) blasted Chris "Dirty Harry" Callahan (1661U).
In the "C" Section, though he lost to "B" player Daryl "Flash"
Gordon
(1667), Jim
"Sticks" Ulaky (1493) still leads the section with 2.5-1.5.
In addition, Kermon Joel Lane (1490) beat down Brandon "Starr"
Brown (1526), Michael "You Know You Make Me Wanna" Shoup
(1477) upset Joshua "Moo" Mu (1516), Marnzell "Pat" Hand
(1600) outplayed Jesse "the Mind" Eddleman and Winfred "Guns" Gatlin
(1405) split the point with David "Dipper" Conard (1512).
In the Lower Section, Ankit
"Butch" Jivan (1427u)
bested Laura Lee (1231) to remain the only 4-0
in the tournament. Other Lower Section winners were: CCC
Player Representative Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla, Tom
Chen, Tim Chen, Kaled Abdelkefi, Joe Shirlen,
Robert
Broadbent, Robert Albert and newcomer Sean Villone.

Tapia Wins Top; Davenport,
Huang, James Share Lower Section Honors in Smokehouse XL
Charlotte,
NC 6-14-03: Twenty-three
weekend warriors from many origins cast away their golf clubs
and participated in Smokehouse XXXXI. In the Top Section,
the CCC's Favorite Son, current NC Scholastic Champion, 17
year old phenom, Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2121) defeated
Kermon Joel Lane (1477), Drew with Tarokh "the Oak" Taefi
(1724) and dispatched of Matthew Smith (1616) (Wow,
tough schedule!!) to capture 1st Place
with 2.5-.5
and pocket $100.
Equal 2nd-5th with 2-1
and winning $12.50
each were Tarokh "the Oak" Taefi (1724), Michael "the
Lip" Lipkin (1712), Matthew "REman" Smith (1616) and
Jim
"Sticks" Ulaky (1488) who amazingly upset NM Leland "El-Moron" Fuerstman
(2017) in Rd:1. (See Game 0305) In
addition in Rd:1, Michael "the Savage" Savage
(1526) Drew with Daniel "Schlecter" Liu (2000). (See

the Lower Section, Kevin Huang (1352), Jeremy Davenport
(Unr) and
Adam
"Jesse" James (Unr)
were =1st-3rd with 2.5-.5
each winning $50.To
