CCC Players Shine at LPO!  Wendy's XVII Gets Under Way With Fuerstman,Trower & Daniel In Front

The entire field of players at the 2000 LPO was completely overwhelmed by the excellent play of CCC members this past weekend in Burlington. In the Under 2200 Section, NM "WWF" Frankie Newton (2193) went undefeated with 3.5-.15 to tie for 2nd Place and win an undisclosed amount of money. NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000) had 2 points after three rounds before car trouble forced him to withdraw. In the Under 2000 Section, Patrick McCartney (1958) also went undefeated (See Game 0131)  scoring 3-2 to tie for 4th Place and take home $122.83 as did David Jaap (1866). In the Under 1800 Section, Jerome DeBell (1522) scored a respectable 3-2 to tie for 6th-20th Place and take home a whopping $9.14!  In the Under 1600 Section, Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1589) reeled off 4 wins before faultering in the last round but took home $325! Also, Daniel Tapia (1220) made a good showing, however, we are not exactly sure of his results.  And, in the Under 1400 Section, Nick "BamBam" Bambara (1087) tied for 2nd Place with an excellent score of 4.5-.5 winning $365! And, finally, there was a rumor that Don Norwood was walking around with a Trophy! "My apologies if I have left anyone out. Congratulations champions! You have done the CCC very proud!!!"  LF

Thirty enthusiastic chess energumens decended upon our holy temple of calculators more commonly known as Wendy's, in order to compete in Rd:1 of Wendy's XVII.In the 10 player Top Section, NM Leland Fuerstman (2013) prevailed with a lively French Defense versus Patrick McCartney (1948)  (See Game 0130)  while Expert Todd "Flower Power" Trower (2007) picked off Gary "the Nuisance" Newsom (1947).  And, for the second time in almost as many days,  NM "WWF" Frankie Newton (2193) surrendered a Draw to NM Daniel "Deep" Liu (2000) while 16 year old phenom Expert Justin Daniel (2002) has now won against Jamie McGavran (1860). In addition, David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1866) has adjourned against CCC member 15 years ago, Gregory Bunich (1820).  In the Middle Section, "CEO" Mike Isner (1437) has adjourned versus Jerome "BigGuy" DeBell (1522).  In the Lower Section, wins were recorded by Nick "BamBam" Bambara (1087)! who executed a 400+ point upset over Randy Hight (1503), Derek Smith, Daniel Tapia, Daryl "Flash" Gordon, Windy Gatlin and Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla. All results may be viewed in "Current Crosstable."All welcome new CCC member Gregory Bunich.
