Charlotte,
NC 8-6-03: A grand
total of 73,
including a record tying final round of 46
of the greater Charlotte area's most gifted thinkers
abandoned their less important responsibilities and instead participated
in Wendy's XLVII. In the Top Section, Michael
"See You Are, See You Are You" Curcuru (1876) quashed the assault
of Jesse "Skip to My" Liu (1860) to take clear 1st Place with
4-1. Clear
2nd
Place with 3-2
was Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1909) who upset NM Leland
"Boss" Fuerstman (2000). In addition, NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu
(2000) turned in his 5th consecutive Draw with a great salvage job versus
newly crowned Expert Chris "the Babe" Mabe (2016)(See
Game 0326) while
Tarokh
"the Oak" Taefi (1721) clobbered Michael Kliber (1900). In
the "B" Section, "C" player Michael "the Savage" Savage
(1588) (who requested, and was granted an exemption to play up)
surely proved himself by defeating Danesh "DD" Dadgar (1647) in the final
round capturing clear 1st Place with 4.5-.5.
Savage's performance rating for this tournament was a whopping 2050!
and, according to the rating calculator, he gained 124
points! Dude...we're not worthy!! In addition, the good Reverend
Bernard
"King" Baker (1684) expatriated Slobodan "the mad Serb" Sinanovic
(1706) while Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1658) upset Sulia Mason
(1776). In the "C" Section, Viktor "the Mad" Ukrainian" Ozherelyev
(1543) upended Brandon "Starr' Brown (1509) to score 3-0
