NC 9-17-03: Thirty-eight amateur meteorologists
first battened down the hatches (used masking
tape on the windows) and then participated
in Rd:1 of Wendy's XLIX.
In the Top Section, the
CCC's #1 player, NC State Champion, NM
Frankie
"Blitz" Newton (2280) fought to the bitter end against Patrick "Flanker"
McCartney (1985) finally exchanging Queens and winning with seconds left
on each clock (See Game 0342).
Meanwhile, Michael "See you are; See you are you" Curcuru
(2053) claimed
that Dino PeBenito (1953) overstepped the time limit prior to completing
his 30th move (though his digital clock was not blinking!?), NM
Leland
"Jefe" Fuerstman (2004) overlooked a crusher and Drew with Tom
"Terrific" Waymouth (1900) (See Game
0343) as did NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu
(2014) with mild mannered Clarke
"Kent" Brosi (1835) (See Game 0341).
In the "B" Section, Tarokh "the Oak" Taefi (1750)
clipped Jon "Cigars" Pietras (1800), Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian"
Ozherelyev
(1614) prosecuted against Kenneth "Star" Ivens (1710),
the good reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1729) read scriptures
to Jeremy Davenport (1604), Danesh "DD" Dadgar (1670) held
on versus Dave "Richman" Richards (1665) and Slobodan "the Mad Serb"
Sinanovic
(1712) made peace with Michael "the Savage" Savage (1700).
In the "C" Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1410) unloaded
on Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1607) (See Game 0340),
Mark
Johnson (1549) fired "CEO" Mike Isner (1514), Tim "the Chin"
Chen
(1413) went the distance with Kevin "Spacey" Huang (1433) and
Ankit
"Butch" Jivan (1505) slipped by Brandy Johnson (834). In the
"Lower Section," wins were submitted by Kaled "the

Eubanks Wins Top; Ozherelyev,
Davenport, Hand Lower Section of Smokehouse XLIII
Charlotte,
NC 9-20-03: Twenty-two
competitors, some from parts unknown,
journied to the Queen City in order to participate in Smokehouse
XLIII.
In the Top Section, SC Expert Keith "Chuck" Eubanks
(2058) asked
no quarter and yielded none as he reduced the rank of Tim Rankin (1774),
beat up Ken "Beans" Baxter (1900) and finally overwhelmed team mate James
"Big" MacDougall (1789) to score 3-0
and pocket $100.
Clear 2nd Place with 2.5-.5
was Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1712)
who claimed $50.
In the Lower Section, Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian" Ozherelyev
(1614), Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1607) and Jeremy "Irons"
Davenport (1604) each scored 2.5-.5
and took home $50. To
