NEWS & VIEWS 11-25-10
Fuerstman Leads
Top; Gordon, Wright "B"; 3 "C"; Bourque Lower Section of Skyland
XVIII
Charlotte, NC 11-24-10:
A light Thanksgiving eve turnout of 9
of the most dedicated members of the CCC royal guard converged upon
this think tank more
commonly
known
as
the Skyland Family
Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:4
of Skyland XVIII. (CCC
members
got very comfortable
sitting in the padded booths
and
full
size tables and chairs while
being
catered to by
our own personal waitress, Aleka! Most
enjoyed a generously
portioned
delicious
home
style meal for
a ridiculously
low price
($6.95!),
drank fresh
hot coffee and
other
beverages, analyzed
on our demo board
and occasionally
monitored
the giant flat screen TV with
the sound
turned off;
open 24 hours!) In the Top Section,
the pride
of Mint
Hill,
ex-member of the NCCA
Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2009) gained the upper hand
out of the opening only to overlook a brilliancy on move 21 (See Game 0920)
against Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1847) who had plenty of material left to Draw. Fuerstman leads with 2.5-1.5. In
addition, Slobodan "the Mad
Serb" Sinanovic (1909) hung
tough against Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1477). In the "B" Section, superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1787) met with stiff
resistance but finally prevailed against returnee to CCC competition Mark "Steeler"
Biernacki (1667) to share the lead with Bill "Mindweeder" Wright (1626) with 2 points. In
the Lower Section, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1313) got sweet
revenge against Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1554). James "Gaffer" Bourque leads with 3-0. In
order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable"-
The
facility was
great and
everybody was happy! We hope that more players
will
join
us next Wednesday to
dine, socialize and play chess! Everyone is
welcome... Long live
the CCC!
