Here is the only truth: "We are the
pawns of the mysterious game of chess played by God, who moves
us, stops us, shifts us ahead, and soon picks us up
one after the other and gathers us in the same box of Nothing."
Omar Khayyam 1040 ad

"Chess grips its exponent,
shackling the mind and brain so that the inner freedom and independence
of even the strongest character cannot remain unaffected."

"Imagination does not breed insanity.
Exactly what does breed insanity is reason. Poets do not go
mad; but chess-players do".

"the chess
playing of a master ties him to the game, fetters his mind and shapes
it to a certain extent so that his internal freedom and ease, no matter
how strong he is, must inevitably be affected." Spinoza |

moves." Horowitz

"The golden opportunity you are seeking is
in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or
chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone."

Apology
"I am the editor of the CCC Website. As an
American citizen and a man
of principle, I have a right to my opinion. Over the past year, I have
published controversial messages which have brought into question the
conduct and accounting of various chess events. Though it was not my
intention, in my zeal to seek the
truth, I may have embarrassed or offended some people, particularly,
Randy Wheeless. For this I
sincerely apologize."
