watching the boob-tube and instead participated in Rd:3 of Wendy's
XXXIV.
In the Top Section, leader NM Leland "El-Presidente"
Fuerstman (2027) banged
heads with the CCC's #1 player, NM Frankie "Isaac" Newton
(2216). After two time scrambles, with only 5 seconds left on his clock,
the latter player remarkably achieved a Drawn position leaving Fuerstman
with 2.5-.5.(See
Game 0220) Meanwhile,
NM Garrick H.G."Outlaw" Wells (2082) blew smoke-rings around
Jon "Cigars" Pietras (1783), Michael Kliber (1900) clobbered Clarke
"Kent" Brosi (1801) and 16 year old phenom, Expert Daniel "Johnny"
Tapia
(2037) split the point with NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu (2009).
In the Middle Section, with the Black pieces, Frank Mu
(1541) upstaged Doug "Sky" Millsaps (1617) while
NYC product Deneil "Sean" Brazell (1614) bested the Honorable
Reverend Bernard "B-man" Baker (1471) to share the lead with 2.5-.5.
In
addition, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1716) beat down
Algie "Van" Clyburn (1500), Nick
"BamBam" Bambara (1405)
upset Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1609), Danesh "Shah" Dadgar (1550)
imposed an oil embargo upon Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton, "CEO" Mike
Isner (1638) discharged Viktor "Kortchnoi" Ozherelyev (1550) and Gregory
"the Mad Ukrainian" Bunich (1609) shared the point with Brandon
"Starr" Brown (1508). In the adult predominated Lower Section,
two of the CCC's youngest members squared off to vie for the lead. Emerging
victorious and remaining as the lone 3-0
in the tournament was "6"
year old phenom Joshua Mu (1076) who defeated Kevin Blackwell (938).
Other Lower Section winners were: Jim "Sticks" Ulaky,
CCC Player Representative Alphonse "Amazing Al" Ashamalla,
Winfred "Guns" Gatlin, Gennady Brazhnikov, Lee
"R&Bman" Richardson, Todd Essex, Joe "SticksJr"
Ulaky,
Sheila Blackwell and Dr. Amir Farahany.

Columbia, SC defeated David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1831) in Rd:1, Drew
with co-champion NM Joseph Jurjevich (2135)
in Rd:2 and knocked off upstart Sam Copeland (1722) in Rd:3
to tie for =1st-2nd Place with 2.5-.5.
Jurjevich
knocked
off Clarke "Kent Brosi (1797) in Rd:1,
Drew with Pohl in
Rd:2, and beat David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1831) in Rd:3. Each took
home $75. In
the Middle Section, Gennady
Brazhnikov (Unr)
and Danesh "Shah' Dadgar (1550)
turned in perfect3-0's
each collecting $75. In
the Lower Section, Scott
"Scratch"
Hunter (Unr) also had a perfect performance with 3-0
and took home $90.
Equal 2nd-5th with 2-1
