NC 4-3-02: A rather healthy
turnout of 42
of the greater Charlotte area's most dynamic thinkers forwent
watching "the Survivors" and instead participated in Rd:1 of Wendy's
XXXIV.
In the Top Section, CCC's #1 player NM Frankie "Blitz"
Newton
(2216) yielded a Draw to NM Daniel "Deep"
Liu (2010) while
CCC Favorite Son, 17 year old phenom, Expert Justin "Dog" Daniel
(2166) outflanked Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1918). Meanwhile, 16 year
old phenom Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2039) thwarted Clarke
"Kent" Brosi (1797) (See Game 0217)
, NM Leland "Premier Hombre"
Fuerstman (2018) hung tough against Jon "Cigars" Pietras (1787)
and snatching his second Master scalp in as many weeks, David "Kamikaze"

from Greenville, SC defeated David "Kamikaze" Jaap (1831), NM Daniel "Deep"

NM Leland "Premier Hombre" Fuerstman (2018) on his way to a second consecutive
perfect Smokehouse title and a cash prize of $100.
Equal 2nd-4th with 2-1 were 16 year old phenom, newly crowned
Expert Daniel "Johnny" Tapia (2039), 54 year old "hasbeen"
NM Leland "Premier Hombre" Fuerstman (2018) (See

pocketing $17. In the Middle

from Irmo, SC (by way of Moskow) dispatched of Dennis Wall, Frank Hatcher
and Sergio Orichi-Socana scoring 3-0 and collecting $80.
Equal 2nd-4th with 2-1 were Chris Thomas, Dennis Wall
and Sergio Orichi-Socana each winning $13.
