CCC NEWS & VIEWS 9-25-03
 By NM Leland Fuerstman
Three Lead Top; Baker, Dadgar "B"; Gatlin "C"; Abdelkefi, Easterwood Lower Section of Wendy's XLIX
Charlotte, NC 9-24-03: A rather dismal turnout of only 32 of of the Metrolina area's finest thinkers neglected voting (who cares, they're all cut from the same cloth) and instead participated in a far more important civic function-- Rd:2 of Wendy's XLIX. In the Top Section, Draws seemed to be the order of the day with the CCC's #1 Player, 2003 NC State Champion NM Frankie "Blitz" Newton (2316) sharing the point with (unofficially) newly crowned Expert Michael "See You Are; See You Are You" Curcuru (2053) each now with 1.5-.5. Meanwhile, equaling that score, Tom "Terrific" Waymouth (1900) registered the only victory in the section with the assistance of kryptonite of all things, over mild mannered Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1835). In addition, NM Leland "Jefe" Fuerstman (2004) split the point with NM Daniel "Schlecter" Liu (2014) while Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (1985) did likewise with Jon "Cigars" Pietras (1800). In the "B" Section, the good Reverend Bernard "King" Baker (1729) fought to a Draw versus Danesh "DD" Dadgar (1670) to each lead with 1.5-.5In addition, Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1607) muted the trumpet of Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1527), Jeremy "Irons" Davenport (1604) made peace with Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1712) and Michael "the Average" Savage (1689) shared the point with Ken Ivens (1710).  In the "C" Section, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1410) melted the barrels against Kevin Huang (1433)(See Game 0344) to lead with 2-0. In addition, David "Dipper" Conard (1537) spit tobacco juice on Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1543). In the Lower Section, Kaled "the Alphabet" Abdelkefi (1311) and Michael "Clint" Easterwood (1174) defeated Glenn "Taco" Bell (1268) and Tony "the Tiger" Hicks (1327) respectively to lead with 2-0. Other Lower Section winners were: Iljin Birsan, Todd Essex, Kert Edward and Hassan Hashemloo. All results may be viewed in "Current Crosstable."  All welcome new member Hudson Tryon. Eubanks Wins Top; Ozherelyev, Davenport, Hand Lower Section of Smokehouse XLIII
Charlotte, NC 9-20-03: Twenty-two competitors, some from parts unknown, journied to the Queen City in order to participate in Smokehouse XLIII. In the Top Section, SC Expert Keith "Chuck" Eubanks (2058) asked no quarter and yielded none as he reduced the rank of Tim Rankin (1774), beat up Ken "Beans" Baxter (1900) and finally overwhelmed team mate James "Big" MacDougall (1789) to score 3-0 and pocket $100.  Clear 2nd Place with 2.5-.5 was Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1712) who claimed $50. In the Lower Section, Viktor "the Mad Ukrainian" Ozherelyev (1614), Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1607) and Jeremy "Irons" Davenport (1604) each scored 2.5-.5 and took home $50To view complete crosstable (Click Here) (Fuerstman directed)  Next Smokehouse October 25.
