1stman 1st in 1st Reserve Angel!
Mint Hill, NC 8-27-11: Six loyal members of the CCC royal guard converged upon the palatial estate of NM LF in order to participate in Reserve Angel I. The $10 entry fee guaranteed 5 rounds of G29 and a hardy lunch! (Bill makes great chili!) When the smoke cleared, (See Game 0979), NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2052q), who yielded only one Draw to Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1858q), finished clear 1st Place with 4.5-.5 and won $40. Top Under 1800 was Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1419q) who scored 2-3, gained 116 "quick" points and pocketed $20. In order to observe results see "Crosstable." The competition was fierce and a good time was had by all. Fuerstman directed.

Fuerstman Leads Top; Hand "B"; Breukelaar "C"; Frazier, Abril Lower Section of Skyland XXVI
Charlotte, NC 8-31-11: A slightly stronger turnout of 18 of the most congenial calculators in the Carolinas converged upon this institution of higher thinking more commonly known as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:4 of Skyland XXVI. Later in the evening, CCC members welcomed thesurprise visit of QCCA Officer Expert Peter Gianattos (2107) who played skittles with Tom Hales in an effort to warm up for the North Carolina Open this weekend! Good luck to all CCC members who participate. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in the padded booths and full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cathy! Most enjoyed a generously portioned delicious home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!), drank fresh hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the CCC's #5 player, the pride of Mint Hill, ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2080) played the White side of a  Budapest Defense versus a stubborn Team Asheboro guru Tom "Terrific" Hales (1805) who magically turned the game around in the end (See Game 0980) and Drew! Fuerstman leads with 3.5-.5. Meanwhile, Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1831) beat down Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1817) while Team Asheboro Expert Jonathon "Livingston" McNeill (2025) split the point with "Wild" Bill Connell (1914) and Team Asheboro's Wil Mahan (1929) Drew with superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1839). In the "B" Section, Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1667) outplayed Team Asheboro and new CCC member Homer Cantrell (1451) to lead with 1 point. In the "C" Section, the good Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1679) converted a completely lost ending versus "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1340) to lead with 4-0. In the Lower Section, Fabian Abril (1176) got by returnee to CCC competition Manfred "Mann" Vees (723) to share the lead with Frazier with 3 points. In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable" The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope that more players will join us next Wednesday to dine, socialize and play chess!  Everyone is welcome... Long live the CCC!
