Fuerstman, Gordon Share Top Honors; Hartung Perfect in Lower Section of Skyland 47; Pealer is NC's Newest Master!!
Charlotte, NC 9-11-13:  A grand total of 28 of the most amicable analyzers in the Charlotte area converged upon this mental jousting arena more commonly knows as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Skyland 47. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cindy. Most enjoyed a generously portioned home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!) drank hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; Skyland stays open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the Pride of Mint Hill, ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2011) snagged a Pawn in the opening versus Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1704) who subsequently sacked a Knight for 2 Pawns (See Game 1221) while superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1911) routed Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1616) to finish =1st-2nd with 3-2 and earn their 1st CCC Title of the year. Meanwhile, NM Pat "Kahn" Sciacca (2132) bounced back with a complicated win over Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2101). In addition, 38 year old NM Shawn "P Diddy" Pealer (2200) scored 2.5-.5 which was just enough to achieve the Title of National Master! In the "B" Section, Marnzell "Pat" Hand (1603) went to the wire with Rich "Alert" Trela (1141) before securing the win. In the Lower Section, Eric "Truth" Hartung (1354) outplayed Debs Pedigo (1144) to finish clear 1st Place with 5-0, gain 206 points! and win Free Entry into Skyland 48. In addition, Mikey "Fox" Trott (1292) grabbed a piece, then gave it back, but won in the end against contemporary Jason "1st Amendment" Mytrysak (1315) while John Knarr (999) vanquished Ben Tarkenton (378). In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope more players will join us next Wednesday to dine, socialize and play one rated game of chess at 7:45pm sharp! Everyone is welcome. Long live the CCC!
Pealer Goes 3-0 in Top; A. Cato 3-0 in Lower Section of Knights Templar V
Charlotte, NC 8-24-13: In spite of the boycott, a total of 21 honored members of the CCC Royal Guard gathered in the  tower on the 7th floor of the Dowd YMCA in order to participate in Knights Templar V. Equal 2nd-3rd were Sciacca and Dan Andrzejewski (1718) each with 2-1 winning $25. In the Lower Section, Team Matthew's Anthony Cato (1500) got by Debs Pedigo (1142) in Rd:1, Marnzell Hand (1600) in Rd:2 and Sampath Kumar (1285) in the final round to finish clear 1st Place with 3-0 and take home $100. Equal 2nd-3rd were Tony Cato (1570) and Marat Kocharyan (1574) each with 2.5-.5 winning $25. In order to observe all results, see "Crosstable." An enjoyable time was had by all!
