Fuerstman Leads Top; Brosi, Myers, Holmes, Obey "B"; Turner, Moore Lower Section of Wendy's 95

Charlotte, NC 4-2-08: Some players exhibited symptoms of triskaidekaphobia after for the 3rd week in succession 13 of the most ambitious chess players in Mecklenburg County gathered at this grand ballroom more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:4 of Wendy's 95. In the Top Section, the pride of Mint Hill, NC, 2007 CCC Expert of the Year NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2018) used just enough kryptonite to neutralize mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1758) who may have resigned a bit too soon (See Game 0733) to lead with 3.5-.5 and capture his first Title of the year with one round yet to play! Meanwhile, Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2029) yielded a hard fought Draw to Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes (1796) while 16 year old upstart Dominique "the Dominator" Myers (1787) clobbered Michael "Bolton" Kliber (1944). In the Lower Section, Andrew "Lefty" Turner and Lee "Roger" Moore share the lead with 3 points. Other Lower Section winners were: Bryan "BeachBoy" Wilson and Copeland "Copie" Blackwell. All results may be observed on the current "Crosstable." * Our next 3 round event is Quark VII, Saturday May 17. The venue has changed to Best Western Sterling Hotel - Suites, 242 E. Woodlawn Rd. Charlotte, NC. E-mail lelandfue@yahoo.com to have your name placed on the list of players who "Intend to Participate."

Trower, McCartney Share Top Honors; Taylor-Brill Perfect in Lower Section of  Quaker Steak VI

In the Top Section, Expert Todd "Squirrel" Trower (2024) dispatched of David Spencer (1434) in Rd:1 and 13 year old phenom Samuel "Xman" Xin (1995) in Rd:2 before agreeing to a GM Draw with Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2006) who defeated Willard Haigler (1471) in Rd:1 and NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) in Rd:2 each scoring 2.5-.5 and winning $75. In the Lower Section, Seth Taylor-Brill (1235) scored a perfect 3-0 and pocketed $60. Equal 2nd-4th were Dr. Tom Spencer, James Humphry and Jordan Ware each with 1.5-1.5 winning $10 In order to observe all results see (Crosstable).
