CCC Cell Phone
Policy
Unless approved by
the Director, after 7:45pm, the use of a cell
phone in the playing area is strictly
prohibited. First offense subtracts 10 minutes
from violators clock; second offense may result
in forfeiture of game.

| The Charlotte
Chess Club, an Independent Affiliate of the USCF meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm (or as early as 5:30 for some!) at the  Skyland Family Restaurant, 4544 South Blvd. Charlotte, NC (Just past Woodlawn Rd towards town on L) Primarily an adult club, the CCC conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:45pm. The time control is G90 - Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) In 4 Sections: Top, "B", "C", Lower. Section winners get Free Entry into next event. The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) The venue is "open 24 hours" and guarantees a private area with plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, friendly management and our own personal waitress, Cindy! (The Management requests that you purchase your meal at Skyland) Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. Your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss and other special tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" and join the CCC or USCF simply show up at the site. The USCF now offers a special "3 month trial membership" for new players for only $15!! Note: Non-members will be preempted by CCC members who arrive before 7:45pm! |
| Explanation
of "Weekly Tournament Competition" The CCC conducts a perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:45 pm. sharp! The time control is G90 - All players who compete in tournament competition are required to be members of the United States Chess Federation. Regardless of which round(s) one chooses to enter, a player only gets credit for the game(s) he actually plays. There is no penalty for not showing up; it is simply counted as an unplayed game. - If you're running late, call me at 704-965-8931 and I'll pair you! Skyland stays open 24 hours! |

of 16
of the most amicable calculators in the county
converged upon this mental jousting arena more
commonly known as the Skyland
Family Restaurant in order to
participate in Rd:4 of Skyland XXXIII. (CCC members
got very comfortable
sitting
in
the
padded
booths and full size
tables and chairs while being
catered to by our own
personal waitress, Cindy.
Most enjoyed a
generously portioned delicious
home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!), drank fresh hot
coffee and other
beverages, analyzed
on our demo board and monitored
the giant flat screen TV with the sound
turned off; open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the
CCC's #4  player,
the pride of Mint
Hill,
ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland
"Ennui" Fuerstman
(2044) played
the Black
side of some weird variation of a Sicilian
Attack versus Patrick
"Flanker" McCartney
(2062) who lost a Pawn in the middle game but
seemed to rescue the position enough to earn the
Draw (See Game 1055)
allowing Fuerstman
to share the lead with the CCC's #1
player Expert
Shawn "P
Diddy" Pealer
(2137) who vanquished "Wild" Bill Connell (1845)
each with 3-1. Meanwhile,
superhero Daryl
"Flash" Gordon
(1865) outplayed and upset (unofficial)  Expert
Matthew "the Machine" Green (2014). In the "B" Section,
Bill "Mind
weeder" Wright
(1747) wore a bulletproof vest against Winfred
"Guns" Gatlin (1568) to lead with 2.5-1.5. In addition, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1790)
beat down Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1788). In
the "C/D" Section,
"Smokin" Corey
Frazier (1430) defeated Joe Shirlen
(960) to lead with 4-0. In
addition, Rich
Trela (Unr) got by Eric Hartung (Unr).
In order
to observe
all
results see "Current Crosstable" The
facility was great
and
everybody was happy! We hope that more
players will join us next
Wednesday to dine, socialize and play
one rated game of chess! Everyone
